Crystal Healer and retired practitioner of

A once prominent master of geomancy, Biantal has since retired and now discreetly practices crystal healing from her glittering grotto in the city of Terraclae. The prim skydancer's magic is enhanced by the shining turquoise gems that stud her hide; her skin as hard as the precious stones that she prizes. Biantal still dresses in the fine regalia of a geomancer - a token of her glory days that she holds on to firmly.

When the popularity of the old ways started to decline in favour of more modern techniques of earth divination, Biantal chose not give up the antiquated geomancy (or 'High Geomancy' as she loftily calls it) methods that she had used for decades, even when her talents were called for less and less frequently. Haughty and proud, the skydancer refused to learn the 16-figure geomantic charts and study the complicated instruments that had become prevalent in her field of magic. Rather than embrace a new generation of earth-reading, Biantal chose to secede gracefully, announcing her retirement into the "quieter life" of a crystal healer.

Though the skydancer is indeed proficient at healing, in her option the vocation does not come with the glamour and importance of prophecy, and Biantal, remembering her youth as an influential sorcerer, is somewhat abashed at her new and more humble profession. She treats contemporary geomancers with disdain, holding her muzzle high in the air whenever she crosses them at guild meetings in the city, her pride causing others to view her as a rather bitter old bird.

But there are some, her old customers mainly, who still occasionally visit Biantal for readings. Like her they prefer the old ways - the comforting, well-known rituals of reading cracks in stone, veins in marble, and the shape of fallen sand giving them a window into the simpler days of their past.
