Biography

Lisari founded this clan when she was but a young mirror. A Tundra named Hayes joined her shortly, and the two quickly fell deeply in love. After a mere three clutches, however, Hayes chose to leave her clan, seeking a higher cause. He found it under the Gladekeeper, and left to serve his goddess.

Lisari was distraught when Hayes left, but she steeled herself, and took comfort in her daughter Desuto. She never loved another dragon as she had her first mate, and grew less welcoming after his disappearance. She led her clan with cold, infallible reason. She soon had arranged a marriage for Desuto, and the rest of the clan had been led to obey Lisari without question. They were only too ready to accept her judgements and decisions.

Despite many setbacks, not least a murderous Plague mirror, her clan was growing. She was proud of her many dragons, their skill and intelligence. Yet... growth had some problems as well. She found that they were running out of room, and she hadn't a sizable tribute to offer the Gladekeeper for more land. Besides, food was always scarce and winter was approaching fast. She realized with alarm that she had to send some clanmates away.

First to go were her children. Those that could found clans elsewhere; those that couldn't did the honorable thing. Only Desuto remained of her many children. Next to go were the less productive dragons of her clan, and most of the dragonesses without mates. Nixyll, Depsaal, Bluesatyre, Gallius... so many good dragons had to be turned away.

It was during these hardships that her daughter changed. Lisari would never understand why her daughter turned on her. Greed? Jealousy? Whatever the reason, Desuto leapt upon Lisari, pure, unbridled hatred broiling in her four eyes. Lisari struggled weakly as her daughter's claws shredded through her soft wing membranes, but she couldn't bring herself to hurt Desuto. Her only remaining connection to Hayes...

Lisari gave her clan to her daughter. Right then and there, pinned to the ground, she promised all her titles and honor to her child. Desuto was insatiable. She glared at her mother, obviously surprised by the offer. How dare she try to gain forgiveness, the young dragoness growled. As though Lisari were the one who had done wrong.

She was allowed to live in her daughter's clan, and eventually she was given a scroll. A sign of her daughter's remorse, she assumed. Lisari was not unhappy with what had happened. She no longer needed to make the harsh decisions that had plagued her during her leadership, and her clanmates liked her more when she wasn't leader. Her daughter was leading the clan well enough, and Lisari was proud.

Much later, a small Tundra came to the clan. Still a hatchling, the tiny dragon seemed very intelligent. She grew interested in the young thing. All of that changed when he chose his name, however. Of all the names in the world, why Hayes?

The insolent little brat dared to come to her one day, after stealing her lost mate's name. He dared to claim to be the Hayes that had left her long ago. It was impossible, she knew, for the tiny Tundra to be right. As he spoke, though, she was filled with the trust that she had felt before. After a while, she realized that the darling fur-drake was her Hayes. She spoke to him about everything that had happened since he had left. The tried to cuddle, but it became clear that their sizes wouldn't allow that. Concerned, she decided to return to her natural state as a Mirror. They would go back to how things used to be between them.
