"She's here!" the hatchlings called, running through the streets. "It's really her!" Everyone paused their days to glance at the bright green tundra walk down the road. She smiled, and ruffled her fluffy wings as she strode past. Her posture was perfect, and her smile practiced. A whiff of the fresh smell of pine needles followed her coming from the wreaths draped around her neck. Soon, she arrived at her destination: the town marketplace. She settled down on the ground and prepared for her seasonal job. Hatchlings began to gather around, some even climbing over her fur, and she told them stories. Stories of the far distant past, stories from her experiences in the forest the other day, stories of what the holidays meant to the different species of dragons, and many more. And to every nest of hatchling that came to visit her, she gifted a beautiful, paw-made wreath. These wreaths were more than souvenirs however, because they were the only thing that helped her to remember all her stories. The smell of fresh pine and juniper was the scent that surrounded her when she had heard these same stories from an old and dear friend.

Though that friend had passed many years ago, Juniper thought about those times every year when the winter solstice rolled around, and it was this that warmed her heart.

Juniper is a calm, reserved dragon, but with a soft spot for hatchlings and for stories. When she comes into town to sell wreaths and tell stories, which is only once a year, she brings the wreaths she hand-made from plants she found in the forest. No one really knows what she does the rest of the year, but she is an expert in botany.
