By the road, a large market stand. The stand is full of freshly picked produce and herbs. But, one row of baskets hold something special. In the back corner a row of water hyacinth boat basket sit. In each basket, wrapped in a soft minky blanket, a tiny little creature with large soulful eyes are watching you. What an odd place to find a hatchling. These little dragons seem different. More plant like then any you have seen before.

While moving brush to one of the large burn piles left by the other gardeners and caretakers, Spell stumbled upon a large plant at the back. He had never seen a plant like it before. What was even more noticeable were the small eggs set in the center of some of the flowers. He began to count them... 1.. 2.. 3.. 4.. and 5. Holy deities 5.

He knew he had to work quickly to claim these as his. He quickly found a tag and a long rope to cordoned off the area. He didn't want some fool to ignite the pile and destroy his harvests. He fixed the tag to the plant and proceeded to wrap the rope around the area. Well, dang, he forgot stakes. He quickly pulled some of the larger branches from the pile. Sharpening one end with a quick swipe of his sharp claws and plunged them into the ground then, attached the rope. There, that will do for now.

In a few days the eggs were ready to pick off the plant. Spell carefully lifted the first egg placing it safely into his basket. The second egg, however, was fastened a bit better and as he lifted it slipped from his grasp, sprang back to the plant and snapped off. He couldn't catch it in time and it fell to the ground below and cracked. He was horrified. He quickly but very carefully removed the other eggs placing them into his basket. The cradled the cracked egg to his chest vowing to always look after the harvest inside. Begging the harvest and the deities to spare it. To let it live.
