Biography
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━❄━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
The wind screamed across the frozen wastes, buffeting against a tiny, lone figure scrambling its way across exposed steel and ice. It slipped momentarily, then dug its claws in and continued on. SENTINEL pressed forward, his cloak tattered and rimed with frost, his blade sheathed but never far from his grasp. He had walked these lands for longer than he could remember... if remembering even mattered anymore. The ruins of a city rose ahead, its frozen skeletal towers jutting into the ashen sky. He had been here before. He thought he had, at least. Memory, like the world itself, was eroding, crumbling into something thinner than dust. Each time he returned to these streets, they seemed less real—emptier, quieter, as if reality itself was fraying at the edges. A shattered sign lay half-buried in the snow, its letters long worn away by time and ice. A name had once belonged to this place, but SENTINEL could not recall it. That was how it always was. The names, the people, the very history of CITADEL, it was all slipping into nothing. He wondered how long until he forgot CITADEL itself. SENTINEL moved through the ruins, past doorways that led nowhere, past windows staring into the abyss. His claws crunched on brittle bones, but whose bones, he did not know. He had fought for them once, hadn’t he? He had stood against the creeping oblivion, sword in claw, daring to believe he could hold the line against an enemy he could not see. Now, he simply wandered. Guarding something that no longer existed. A whisper drifted through the streets, so faint it could have been the wind. SENTINEL stopped, claws hovering over the hilt of his sword. He had heard voices before, faint echoes of the past slipping through the fractures in time. But this... this was different. “You are still here,” the voice said. Not an echo. Not a memory. A presence. SENTINEL turned, eyes narrowing against the storm. A large figure drifted at the far end of the street, cloaked in shadow, their form wavering like a mirage. He didn’t recognize them, though something told him he once had. “I remain,” he said, voice steady despite the weight in his chest. The figure tilted its head. “But for how much longer?” SENTINEL had no answer. He gripped his sword, standing as he always had: alone, against the encroaching dark. Guarding a world that had already begun to forget itself.
