When the Dusthides burrowed up from underground, the tremors uncovered an old, forgotten nest in the depths of Dusk Hall. Perhaps it was pulled through time and space like Liriel was, perhaps it was a relic of the city that once lay around the Hall. Wherever it came from, there was only one egg. To the surprise of Liriel and Mossy, the egg hatched, revealing a little Dusthide. They named her Dusk, after the Hall in which she was found, and decided to raise her as their own. Privately, Mossy believes Dusk's nest was moved by the spirits, as shortly after hatching Dusk developed antlers. This was the same thing that happened to Sylvia after she was taken by the spirits.
