The dark has never been a place for Lucia. Though Shadow magic runs in her blood, the darkness and dreariness of the Tangled Wood has never set well with her. It was stifling and heavy. She wished for the green mazes of the Everbloom Gardens or the mysteries and mystics at the Spiral Keep. Maybe the glow of the Sunbeam Ruins, or the warmth of the Ashfall Wastes? Whatever the case, a life among tricksters and briars was most certainly not going to cut it. Her departure saw her disowned, but it was worth it in the end... right?
To hear her tell it, she has been everything from a fortune teller to a dancer, has lived with great artists and has had her portrait done by the most talented wildclaws. She's spent afternoons poring over the tomes in the libraries of the Light flight, and has stared awkwardly at smiths at the Flamecaller's feet as they stained their clothes with soot and mud. Her silks were from the Reedcleft Ascent, but they were stolen by Plague bandits. Her flowers are from faes in the Crystalspine Reach. And Dragonhome? She’s been here before: flew with the harpies, talked to the Earthshaker. Though it may have just been a very large snapper. She's not sure. To say her peers are skeptical would be an understatement. Aside from the fact that she’s incredibly young to have traveled so much and accomplished so many feats, her talents seem limited to holistic weirdness and performing arts peppered with cheap divination. When she arrived on the fringes of The Abandoned's home, she was penniless and shaking, timidly asking for Joachim before being led to The Outlanders. Shriek was adamant that Lucia was being followed, and whispers among others indicated she may have been fleeing from an arranged union with a mysterious Tom. While Joachim seemed to have a vague idea of the truth, he faithfully kept his trap shut while Lucia herself flitted about, reassuring everyone that she only arrived because she was asked for personally by her imperial friend. Then came the... incident. When a strange entity called Flauros - she looked like a dragon, but all signs pointed to something more arcane and malevolent - began terrorizing The Abandoned, Lucia, feeling fighting eldritch horrors was a bit above her pay grade, took the only sane option: she turned tail and ran far, far away, to a welcoming allied clan in the Virdian Labyrinth. At least, that was the initial plan. She may have gotten a teensy bit lost on the way, much to fellow ex-Outlander and current Bird Of Paradise resident Pandora’s chagrin. Instead of ending up in the Viridian Labyrinth, Lucia found a different home: Scrimshaw, a fledgling clan run by a guardian named Pyrinae, who had recently left Bird Of Paradise herself. For whatever reason, Lucia saw something in her, and she’s stuck with Pyrinae ever since. Maybe something about Pyrinae’s determination to be true to herself no matter the cost speaks to Lucia, someone who deals in half-truths and ambiguity. Or maybe it was just easier to cut her wandering short and settle with the next best thing to Bird Of Paradise itself. It’s hard to tell when it comes to Lucia. An eccentric sort, Lucia passes her time by offering services to her peers ranging from aromatherapy to massage to card and tea leaf readings. In these settings, she is friendly and professional, a ditzy beauty who doesn’t make enemies by telling others what they want to hear. Outside of these settings, others find her unnervingly aloof and distant, chipper but removed from others in a way that inhibits her ability to care about the severity of a situation. While intuitive sorts state that this may be a form of escapism - just like her alleged strings of lies - most find it disconcerting how easily she can blow things off, from theft to violence, and even death. |
