Biography
Mallorie is a Plague Skydancer tasked with handling the obscure and arcane afflictions of their clan. She has a fervent obsession with engineering life, but still manages to carry out her duties in complete unobservation. She owed her life to the Shade before it ever begun, and she will tussle and toil in vain to repay it for as long as she breathes. Demeanor Mallorie is a quiet, reserved dragon whom many find offputting. Her speech and mannerisms ooze with the isolation she's buried herself in, but her silent melancholy, despite her chosen deity, hides no malice. This isn't to say she won't ever be the serf of evil: her sole drive is, and has always been, decidedly arcane, and more than a moment of interacting with her displays this readily. Origin & History Mallorie's egg was murderously thrown by a parent upon the jagged stone of the Crystalspine Reaches at a time where the clan only consisted of Lantern, Sentinel and Aspen. As an inky eye of the Shade settled upon her even then, it scried in her a tremendous promise for a servant, and upon the shattering of the egg against the unforgiving crystal, just as her soul would've rent itself from her broken form, it punctured her essence with a twisting shrouded hand and reensnared it with her mortal coil; in that single breath her lifeblood was only the Shade, and never would her veins pump themselves free of this taint. Forever in obedience clawed out the amorphous mass of dragon within, phoenixlike, tearing itself from the shards of shell and assembling the form of a hatchling. Oblivious, unable to ignore the attempt at murder, and unwilling to leave a child to their own, Aspen, even as a hatchling imbued with Skydancer familial instinct, insisted upon taking her under their wing. For a long time, she existed effectively as a spectre, emerging rarely and fleetingly from the small nook carved with Aspen's help near the clan's primary den. As the clan grew around her, and hiding from the building pairs of prying eyes became harder, she became increasingly frustrated with her approximation of a dragon and grew insistent on concealing the parts of herself she considered still imperfect. This obsession gradually grew into her sinking her talons into occultic knowledge in pursuit of constructing her own replicas of life, false!dragons and myriad lesser shambling creatures, her methodology an amalgam of necromantic and alchemical doctrine. The draconic fruits of her labor are, in order of their genesis: Valor, Voyager, Vigor, and Vehemence. Current Tempo Mallorie currently resides in a small hollow engraved into the seaward side of the mountain in which the clan is nestled, accompanied by Aspen, Voyager, and, on occasion, Valor. While always having been the kind to shy from any spotlight, as of late her appearances even to her denmates have noticably begun to wane. The sharpwitted among them can't help but notice that the shadowy fluid contained by her throat has never sunk lower in all these years, despite the single well-known fact about her being that the liquid is what supplies her creations with life. Her experimentation continues with much the same fervor as before; in fact, she may be growing even more feverish to construct her next dragon. Clan Dynamics Mallorie's relations with her clanmates have always been noticably weak - doubly so for a Skydancer, and she clearly suffers for it. She hardly associates with anyone save for Aspen, and then clumsily and inconsistently. Aspen wrote:
"She's always been- well, can you blame her? Stricken so early by the Shade? She's not evil. She's no more wicked than the rest of us. Uhm... however little that may be saying."
Valor wrote:
"She fashioned me and left me for dead. However much she'll denounce her inborn element, she spreads her curse like plague. That's all I care to say."
