DESCRIPTION

This brightly patterned banescale is a clan medic and repair technician. Formerly a metalworker, he traveled and found himself in Soteris, a light clan in the crevices near Lanternlea Port. He specializes in dragons and beastclans with mechanical parts. Somu has a close relationship with the clans therapist, Daelin, to which he considers a good friend. Somehow, he always has the right thing to say to Somu and gives him expert advice!

A metalworker hailing from an earth nest, Somu never met his parents, nor anyone from that lair. He only became a metalworker because he thought it would help him feel connected to what his parents were— they were both fire dragons.
While he was experienced and well known by his close comrades, something inside him was churning. He started to fall ill, seemingly without cause, sending him into spells of weakness and fatigue, feeling physically unwell any time he would work in the forge. He had gone pale, which wasn't a common illness for banescales. It wasn't heard of. He was left with no choice but to leave his job and his lair to find a cure for his sudden ailments. The banescale didn't have to travel far— he ran into a clan that was in the midst of traveling to a new home lair. They were moving from earth flight to light, and mentioned they'd be staying near the Lanternlea Port. The tiny fae that they called the Founder was kind to him, and confirmed that they had someone who could help him. Not a guaranteed cure, but someone with knowledge and magic. He joined their pilgrimage and settled into the new lair. When Somu first joined Soteris, he was met with several dragons who were also new. He bonded closely with one of them, their name was Francis. The undertide and banescale didn't have much in common, aside from being put in the same situation in Soteris, hoping to find their place. He wasn't aware of what caused Francis to stop by, but as a fellow traveler, he did inevitably leave. The banescale had always hoped to hear from Francis once again, but chose to put that aside to focus on his own health. |

When Somu met the clan therapist, he was caught off guard—it was a neutral toned sandsurge with dark circles under his eyes, some halfmoon spectacles with tiny chains falling from them, hanging loosely around his neck. He sat at his desk, shuffling through papers, when he noticed the visitor. Without moving his head, his eyes pulled themselves up to see who was in front of him; he sighed.
"What do you need?" The banescale was left speechless. This was the therapist of the clan? "I-I'm not sure–" The sandsurge moved aside the papers and folders he was previously focused on, and flashed a half smile at Somu, inviting him to sit. "I'm Daelin, and you are?" "I'm Somu. I joined the clan because every time I work the forge, I fall terribly ill." "Have you considered finding a different job?" "Hmm... The thought didn't cross my mind. I've always done that. I'll try something, thank you for the suggestion!" The banescale scurried away, leaving Daelin with his mouth half open, with the intent to respond; he sighed and grumbled, getting back to work. The striped banescale eventually changed his tune and started working as a repair technician for mechanical familiars and beastclans. It bled into dragon medicine when he treated augmented dragons on the job, but Somu didn't mind at all. |
