One of the eldest dragons of the Clan and, in fact, its last remaining original member - Takakage is the only remaining dragon in the group who bore witness to its humble beginnings in the Sea of a Thousand Currents, and one of the few who still remember its first Matriarch. He does not speak much of her however, as he is not fond of returning to the past; nor does he speak much at all in general. He mostly sits there on his pile of blankets and tomes, his deep blue eyes keeping watch on all that happens around him, and his hand scribbling notes on a piece of parchment every once in a while. He usually rests alone, as he is not one for company and conversation.

Every once in a while, his eyes widen and he freezes, stopping whatever it is he was doing, pausing mid-sentence if he was talking with anyone, and remaining still and silent for a few minutes. Everyone in the Clan knows that should that happen, they are to be quiet as well and patiently wait, for those are the moments when Takakage sees visions. Once it passes, the Skydancer usually resumes his previous activity as if nothing had happened, though depending on what it was the spirits revealed to him, he might rush to Matriarch Iris to tell her immediately.

Takakage’s prophecies can determine and change the Clan’s plans and strategies on a whim, and Iris takes them absolutely seriously, always listening to what the Water dragon has to tell her. Some - Thabes and Rothen in particular - scoff at this, suspecting that Takakage could very easily abuse his power and influence by simply pretending to have certain visions. Their accusations however remain ungrounded thus far, as - much to their annoyance - he has yet to make a mistake or foresee something that did not come to pass or have to be prevented. And they are just as well aware as anyone else that last time someone did not listen to Takakage’s prophecy, they lost all they had and perished in the Scarred Wasteland. For that reason, he does not like to talk about their previous Matriarch. Everyone knows what happened to Elitha and repeating that story is, in his eyes, a waste of words.

Though he reveals little, not even he can conceal all his thoughts and feelings from the likes of Sayrith or Galahad, who both have noticed that mentions of Elitha awaken a mixture of annoyance, sadness and grief within his heart. And they are not wrong, for Takakage does in truth consider her failure as partially his own. After all - he was the one who first discovered her when she was but a young, inexperienced child of the Tidelord leading a few equally lost souls. He was the one who showed her the right path to manage a Clan and shoulder all the responsibilities connected to leading a group of living beings who rely on her to survive. He was there as she began to make more and more decisions on her own, most with his input and advice. But then came the one time she ignored him. Should he have disputed with her more? Should he have tried harder to convince her? Was it his trust that she had grown enough to no longer need his aid that led to her downfall?

He supposes it does not matter anymore, but the truth of the matter is, he has never been able to truly move on and stop considering Elitha as his failure.

Iris has never made such a mistake, however. After she took control, one of her first acts was naming him first advisor. Ever since then, his words have been holy to her and the Clan. After all, many battles, conflicts and traps have been avoided and conquered thanks to him. As it turns out, having an oracle in a place like the Scarred Wasteland is hugely beneficial.

But his efforts, aside from praise, also earned him suspicions and jealousy. Often, when you are successful, there will be someone upset about that - whether or not they are in any way, shape or form capable of taking on your role.

Not that Takakage cares much. The opinions of others mean nothing to him unless they attempt to get in his way and refuse to be ignored, in which case he generally resolves the issue the old-fashioned way - by threatening to drown the opponent. This generally forces them aside one way or the other.

He has yet to be the one who had to step aside.
