Nadelik: 'Christmas' in Cornish

Junior Healer | The Wandering Contagion's Offspring

As a daughter of the Wandering Contagion, Nadelik's own birth, along with her other sisters', is a surprise, and taken to be an anomaly, especially since she was born on Christmas, certainly a strange time for death's eggs to hatch. Given as a hatchling of mere hours to the Valkyrie, the Coatl hatchling remained strangely unaffected by the blood-heavy atmosphere.

She took to healing, under Crystal and Eledhanow, to study medicine and healing spells to help the Clan, and has taken a vow to never let any dragon under her care to pass away. She has done such a good job of healing so far, at even a faster pace than Eledhanow, that nobody has dared to tell her that her mother, indeed, is someone who has gone past death, and has come back. Even the Coatls of the Clan know of her Wildclaw mother, but stay quiet.

Nadelik knows that her origins are not within the Valkyrie, given how she's seen her own gleaming red eyes like Howlednek's, but knows that perhaps, maybe she'd better not ask, and maybe she was adopted by the Clan from an auction or found wandering near their border. She can't remember, and frankly, that's how the Valkyrie wants it to stay.

But one cannot hide secrets forever, at least, not in the Valkyrie. In the equivalent of her teenage years, Nadelik soon came to know that the Claw of the Plaguebringer was her mother, during the Riot of Rot, and with this knowledge, fell into confusion and anger. The Valkyrie lost their best Healer for a while, but she came back after a while- after a metamorphosis of sorts.

Gone were the bright blue scales they had given her during the Crystalline Gala ("How dare you try to cover up my father's blood-given scales!") the gift of a scarf and the old apparel they had given her. She had fully embraced the Plague within, twining skeletal chimes to her wings and fixing black goggles on her head.

She didn't feel any resentment towards the Valkyrie, grudgingly accepted their apology. She stayed with them. Nadelik was completely different, but somehow still the same. She adopted a rather different philosophy. If her mother was to kill, then the daughter, by all means, was to heal.

Nadelik was the child of a Healer and born on Christmas- two points that saved her from becoming an Eldritch horror like most of her siblings, and grew up without any mutations or decaying skin. Nevertheless, she takes pride in her Plague roots and her mother, and helps to raise her sister Kihkyr'am. As any loving big sister is, she's overprotective of the young Skydancer.
