Those who have shed their mortal husk are the lucky ones, no longer burdened with the suffering and hardships that life brings. Those who die with purpose and honour in battle are held in the highest regard, and it is Drenji's duty is to remind others of this and perform the brief ceremony that accompanies the passing of a clanmate. Most of these rites were conceived by Drenji herself, others added at the behest of the deceased's friends or family. Over the years, they coalesced into the ceremony used today. She takes great pride in her work, knowing that she has brought peace to lives that were once full of pain and is regarded highly among the clan as someone who is respectful and compassionate.

Despite her profession, Drenji is not a bleak dragon. She is an optimist, always willing to fly against hopeless winds that others would simply bend to. Outside of battle, she would never dream of hurting anyone in any manner, preferring instead to rebut or placate. She firmly believes that the gift of life should be repayed by service to the Flamecaller, however possible, so her days are spent training, worshipping and performing her duties. They are also spent with great worry. Her mate, Heulyn, is a thrill-seeking, risk-taking scout for the clan, and every mission is another day to taunt death. Drenji knows very well that such luck runs out eventually, and spends her nights dreading the inevitable day her ceremonies and duties will tend to his body.
