PERSONALITY:
Jackdaw is a lax bird, prone to goofiness and jokes. His humor is often self-deprecating, and like anyone he has his more somber moods. Remembering his crappy family, his dead love, and all that. Thankfully, he's got a great boyfriend who's there for him.

He doesn't care for the idea that age necessarily demands respect or obedience. He also tends to take his time gnawing on ideas. One of his more valued possessions is an old beaten harpy mask he's had since before he could remember. He rarely approves of violence.

HISTORY:
Jackdaw's mother was a horrible tragedy of a dragon. She left Jackdaw's egg in the care of another clan, and abandoned him for the sake of her final revenge. During a Beastclan raid on that clan, Jack's egg was taken by harpies. To their surprise, the baby dragon decided that was the ideal time to hatch. They dropped the wriggling egg, and only by chance did Jackdaw survive. The harpies had not been flying especially high and he fell into an oasis, clinging to one of the harpies' masks as he fell.

There he was picked up by a motley trio of travelers and taught how to make a living by scavenging and selling what he found. The travelers weren't much interested in taking on a fourth member of their band though, let alone a kid, and Jackdaw was left alone for much of his adolescence. He wandered around, picking stuff up off the ground and trading it for money.

While exploring an abandoned lair, he found a Scrapmetal Tracker and a kindred spirit. They were both solo scavengers, and Jackdaw was smitten with the thing. He named it Harpies, after his mask. They found Clan Stormbay together. There, Jackdaw found out his father and mother were from Stormbay's oldest allies. His father was unmemorable, but nobody liked to talk about his mom. She's dead anyways, they told him. Jack decided they didn't sound like parents.

Not long after, he met a lovely Nocturne. She was the daughter of a Spiral and a Pearlcatcher, and the queen of the time exiled her for murder and spying, but Jackdaw didn't agree. What did it matter what breed Veani was compared to her parents? What did parents even matter? Veani hadn't killed those dragons. Jack helped her clear her name and, eventually, take down the corrupt government.

Veani ultimately fell ill and passed. Jack threw himself into supporting his son. His job as scout and amateur cartographer for Stormbay wasn't making him rich, but it was steady enough that he could save up to buy some of his son's fancy gadgets.

Abel came into Jack's life later. The Rose Merchant was looking for a hub of trade called Stormbay, and Jackdaw was happy to show him the way. While they traveled, they got to know each other better. They've been close ever since.

CURRENT PLOTS:
Jackdaw is a jack of all trades. He takes odd jobs around the lair, and when nobody needs anything done, he scavenges around the Expanse (and sometimes its adjacent territories) for junk to clean up and resell. He also enjoys spending time with his boyfriend.
