Meiriona in her youth.

i. Lightborne The beautiful Meiriona was born from the sunlight, just the same as many other residents of Yr Ardd. Though, through no fault of her own, Meiri's unusually dull colours sparked controversy, as she was born unable to bestow colour to the world around her. Whilst she was still a hatchling, she was heralded as a terrible omen. Dragons were convinced that Meiri was a sign of Yr Ardd losing favour from the Light, and that soon more hatchlings would be born with faded hues and the lack of magic that this entailed. Meiriona's predicament caught the attention of the fearsome Lady Rhoswen, who took her under her wing to protect her from harm and from the harsh words of those that were ill-informed and presumptuous. Although Lady Rhoswen had a fierce temper, the elder Imperial revealed a gentle corner of her heart to her adopted daughter. Rhoswen's fierceness became something of a wall, shielding Meiriona from the world whilst simultaneously repairing her adopted daughter's public image. |
ii. Restored
Lady Rhoswen's efforts to ensure that the rumours surrounding Meiriona were quashed bore fruit, and soon there was not a single resident of Yr Ardd who dared to utter a derisive word against her. No longer the object of their scorn, Meiriona became their beloved princess.
The day that Meiri reached adulthood, as determined by the laws of Yr Ardd, she was bestowed with the honour of a title. Lady Meiriona was born that day, and she gratefully left her humble beginnings in the past. Though the pain that she felt from those lonely moments still lingered at the back of her mind. And in those moments of darkness, she had one more shoulder to lean upon aside from the great dragons who had raised her. A Draig Dwr, who had been by her side throughout it all; Alwyn.
iii. Alwyn
Dreigiau Dwr are one of the few species of Yr Ardd not formed out of light.
