Exploring the Sea of a Thousand Currents can be quite dangerous. However, Water clans seem to be quite desperate in finding their deity, and so dragons from other Flights are coming to their aid. Midnight is one of those dragons. Since they’re a Guardian, they’re pretty sure that they can be of great help. Midnight does like swimming too, and has meddled with maren clans before. So it shouldn’t be too hard, right?

Though nothing could prepare Midnight for the absolute wonders that the sea holds. And the absolute horrors. And by the Shadowbinder, it’s so dark underwater! Luckily, Midnight can see quite well in the dark, but seeing in the dark while being underwater is still quite tricky. And not all the denizens of the sea are welcoming. Though most of them luckily are. Swimming with the fish is quite relaxing to Midnight. But no matter where they swam to, they didn’t find a trace of the lost deity.

However, during a standard expedition, Midnight suddenly found herself staring at bright light. And they were way too deep underwater for there to be sunlight. There were no maren villages marked on the map either. So, what exactly was down there? Midnight swam up to the light, only to find some kind of underwater lantern, shining brightly in the darkness. And another lantern further up ahead. So, the Guardian swam up to the next lantern, and the next, following a trail of lanterns all the way to a large underwater gate that led into an underwater cave. The gate isn’t of the best quality, but Midnight can clearly see that a lot of craftsmanship went into it once before. Out of curiosity, they swim closer to the gate, than closer to the cave entrance.

And then, obviously, they swim right into the cave.

And it’s dark there. No more lanterns to light the way. But Midnight valiantly swims further and further into the cave. Until something rumbles deeper inside. Then roars.
