Beta Female of the Clan

Besides the progens, Moonstream was the first of the clan. She was the very first to join Vixen and Shadowclaw. She has been with them through everything. It is because of that that she was appointed as beta of the clan. Both progens are confident that should anything happen to them, the clan would be safe in her hands. She is also Vixen (the matriarch)'s best friend. Vixen is a tough and stubborn gal that most of the clan is intimidated by, but Moonstream is not intimidated by her. She is the only one in the clan that will argue and raise her voice with her. However, Moonstream is not really a headstrong dragon, so she only argues when it is necessary. Moonstream is most widely recognized as the clan-mother. She is a very motherly dragon that looks after everyone. She is incredibly understanding and will be your supportive cheerleader with whatever it is you choose to do. She will remind you of reality but will encourage your dreams as well. She is well-loved and admired by all in the lair.

Moonstream has had a couple mates in her life. She is not a very romantic dragon and thus doesn't put a very high importance on her romantic relationships, but she has had a few regardless. Her first mate was Castien. If you read her origin story and some origin stories of the few other oldies in the clan, you'll see that Castien was not welcomed with open arms by the Matriarch. Despite this, Moonstream still loved him. Some days, she still finds her mind wandering to him, remembering him. He reminds her of her younger self and their early clan days. He was an Arcane dragon that had a wanderlust spirit like she once had. He eventually left to serve the Arcanist, but not before he laid a nest with her. Out of that nest came Stormfall, her first son. Although he originally intended to leave the clan, like his father before him, Stormfall inevitably stayed in Vixen's Clan, which really pleased his mother. Despite being the son of Castien, Vixen accepted him because she saw more of his mother than his father in him.
After Castien's departure, Moonstream had a short fling with Cavern, an Ice Tundra in the clan, but eventually settled down with Nightcavern. Nightcavern is a quiet, meditative Light Skydancer that enjoys his alone time. Thus, he gives Moonstream a lot of space, which she prefers. They're not hopelessly in love, but they appreciate each other and are content mates. Castien was the only dragon she really ever flirted with, and even so she didn't really love him romantically. She just enjoyed the act of flirting. He was a very flirtatious dragon, so he didn't mind it. He loved her for what she was, knowing that she didn't really have romantic attraction to him. Relationships have never been her forte, but luckily she's had very understanding mates. Nightcavern is quite a distant dragon that truly respects her for who she is. If someone asked her who her mate was, she'd say "Nightcavern" without another thought. But the two of them don't act like most mates seem to. To strangers they might appear as acquaintances, or just fellow clan-mates. But that's fine. Others don't have to understand. Platonic love is what she excels at, and she's a busy dragon anyway. But at the end of a long day, you'll find her cuddling next to Nightcavern, and the two sleep soundly together.
Many years later, a stirring Ice Coatl named Nightglow joined the clan. He'd been drawn to the clan inexplicably, but later both she and him learned that something in the universe was bringing them together. Though she tried to fight it and ignore it for a while, she eventually came to terms with it. Especially when Moonchild confided in her that their new friend was genuine and possibly even intuitive like her. Eventually, Nightglow became a fixture of their family, accepted by Moonchild, Nightcavern, and Cavern as someone trustworthy. So Moonstream came to trust him too. She, Nightcavern, and Nightglow decided to pursue whatever they were, and just let it happen naturally. She's content with both her mates, and is happy they're both in her life.

When Lavi joined the clan, Moonstream's overall mood shot through the sky. She was so happy to meet the esteemed father of her first mate and even more overjoyed that he had chosen to stay in their clan permanently. She was most gladdened by how his presence had warmed her son's heart. He had vastly looked up to and missed his father, so Lavi's arrival had helped Stormfall open up and be more friendly overall. Moonstream also enjoys her father-in-law's company and spends many days/nights telling him about their clan or about anything on her mind. He is a great listener and also enjoys these stories and updates.

Moonstream's connection to Moonchild you can see in Moonchild's origin story. They share a telepathic song and have been close since Moonchild first hatched. Yet despite that, Moonstream sees her as her sister, not her daughter. They absolutely, 100%, trust each other. It is almost as if they have a shared soul. She is also very fond of Moonchild because they share the same birth-flight. Although Moonstream has long made Arcane territory her home, she does have a lot of pride for her Lightning homeland. Her familiar, in fact, was a gift from her home-clan. When she originally left home, she intended to travel a while, but settled in Vixen's Clan quite early on. She always intended to go back and visit her home-clan, but got caught up with all her responsibilities as beta in this clan. But one day her home-clan visited her and was overjoyed to see her so busy and happy. So they gave her a familiar she had been eagerly hoping to bond with. Although her familiar has long been awakened, they are still super close and are often seen within several yards of each other.
