Lore
Mudskippers all but confirm the theory of early amphibious Mudpuppies. These dragons spend their lives on both land and sea. Unlike true Mudpuppies, Mudskippers evolved to fit the ecological niche of the coastal tidelands surrounding Sornieth, rather than venturing further inland. As such, Mudskippers aren't able to survive solely on land and must submerge themselves periodically in water.
Bogsneaks in particular seem especially prominent in this variant, as their bodies are most suited to the amphibious lifestyle of a Mudskipper. Mudskippers, like Mudpuppies, originated in Dragonhome. However nowadays they can be found in the fresh, marine, and brackish waters across the temperate and tropical regions Sornieth.
Despite spending more time than their truer cousins in the water, they aren't less skilled at mud-wrestling! Mudskipper clans send strong champions to compete, and their slimy skin gives them a strong advantage!
However, the main sport of enjoyment amongst Mudskippers is.....mudskipping! Skipper clans are known for their exciting and fast-paced contact sport, which features individual competitors racing against each other on hazardous, mud-filled tracks. Competitors are encouraged to brawl during the race, with only the fastest and strongest able to claim victory.
