Background Lore [The Haunted lore] When Shade was young, he was always with Apathy- the second-born. Shade was a "disgrace" and "weak" as his parents often called him when he failed to excel in class or tremble in fear in front of a dragon his parents ordered him to kill. He was pure which is contemned within the so-called "family" that he belongs to. In order to "cure" him, his parents arranged different kinds of "lesson plans" ranging from maintaining the bestiary, where many dangerous creatures can be found, up to sparring with someone barehanded. And if he failed? He would be thrown towards the punishment room where he would be isolated for days, at some time- for weeks. His sister Apathy was his saving grace. She might come as stoic and unfeeling, but she always tries to cover for his mistake and often takes the punishments that were originally his. Under her emotionless demeanor, Shade likes to think she got a compassionate heart- even just a tiny bit. Apathy became his ally, his savior, his precious person, and his light. In his eyes, his sister is perfect and is very courageous to stand against their parents' teachings. Then she left. Of course, Shade didn't believe it at first. His sister might come off as unfeeling but he knows she cares for him. She cares for him and if she ever escapes this hell then she would take him too! Yes, that's right. His sister Apathy wouldn't leave him here all alone! She would come back for him! She- D I D N ' T Shade could only feel numb as he undergo yet another punishment for defying his parents. His hope of his sister saving him as she always did dwindles to nothing as he stares at his blood dripping down his hands. Days became weeks, weeks became months, and months became years but Apathy didn't come. She left and never went back for him. But why? Why did she abandon him? Wasn't he important to her? What about the moments they have together? Were they all nothing to her? Is he nothing to her? She-! She's just like everyone else. Noche and Woe stood on the balcony connected to their room, watching as their 6th offspring spar against the 'failed experiment' full of fury and despair. A huge part of him is covered with blood but he kept on going. Even if the failed experiment lay on the ground unmoving, the little veilspun still kept on fighting- Oh what a magnificent sight to see. "Looks like they can be cured, after all", Noche mused as she glanced at the piece of paper located on top of the coffee table, humming slightly as she ponders on what to do with it. She picked up the paper and thrust it towards her mate, "Go burn this, seems like we have no use for it", she instructed with a smirk. Woe stood in front of the fireplace, staring at the paper in his hand for a few moments before throwing it onto the fire. He watches as the fire began to burn the paper so beautifully. The last thing he saw was the oh-so-familiar handwriting of 'I will come back for you-' before the fire fully engulfed the paper, leaving only its ashes behind. |
