Bog Shadows are native to the rivers of the Tangled Wood. A nocturnal subspecies, they tend to have dark colors and genes that provide good camouflage in dark water. Some live in social groups and others prefer solitude. Many of the eldest have claimed dens in the river delta of the Driftwood Drag, while the younger ones tend to venture further to find their own homes. It is not uncommon for younger, solitary Bog Shadows to join clans of other dragons. Wherever they migrate, they prefer to stay close to a body of water.

Like many shadow dragons, Bog Shadows enjoy playing tricks on their den or clanmates. They may rise suddenly from the water to spook someone, or lure them to the river with their glowing eyes, but they are not malicious and do not intentionally cause serious injury. When living in diverse clans, Bog Shadows will work with their clanmates to hunt, control pests, and care for hatchlings.
