Kthanid Horror among the Stars In the wake of Eclipse's destruction, it appears that nothing save dust remains. But things are not always what they seem. Though the souls are long gone, consumed, what is left behind remembers how it feels to live. Among the vast starry emptiness, there are many possibilities, and nothing is truly lost forever. Memory and body alike are torn away by the siren song Astaroth sings, leaving only the mind in incorporeal torment. It is not death, but there is nothing beyond the void; nor is it life when one cannot remember how to be. In that vacuum, on the brink between life and death, many things are possible. One must only reach out and seize opportunity. Whether by coincidence or fate, when the paths of these two horrors cross, it is not and end that they leave behind, but a beginning. It is a new life, with no memory that anything came before. But the world seems awash in grey while the stars flicker in endless light. |

When he and his siblings were born, there was just enough to make the five of them, and no more complete beings. There was; however, leftover stardust that had not gone into their creation. Kthanid thinks the others are not aware of it, but it was this that fed and nurtured them into full being after their 'parents' left the area unknowing what their encounter had left behind. It must be that they don't remember, because they would not have become what they are if they did. He is the only one to have tasted the souls of unwary travelers and decided to pursue that - to pursue the birthright their parents left them. It is easy, he finds, to pull the spirits, memories, and even the lifeblood from those who take his beauty to mean that he is an angel rather than a devil. And it is so sweet when they realize their mistake. The fear, the terror, it is not easy to let that go. From one victim to the next, he trails through the stars like a snake, consuming whole his prey. He hunts now in the endless expanse of nothingness for the instances when there is something, for the rare occasions when someone is lost. He is the true successor to his father in hunting the cosmos, and someday he hopes to prove it by pulling him down from his place and taking it for himself. |
