Kassogtha Void Given New Purpose In the wake of Eclipse's destruction, it appears that nothing save dust remains. But things are not always what they seem. Though the souls are long gone, consumed, what is left behind remembers how it feels to live. Among the vast starry emptiness, there are many possibilities, and nothing is truly lost forever. Memory and body alike are torn away by the siren song Astaroth sings, leaving only the mind in incorporeal torment. It is not death, but there is nothing beyond the void; nor is it life when one cannot remember how to be. In that vacuum, on the brink between life and death, many things are possible. One must only reach out and seize opportunity. Whether by coincidence or fate, when the paths of these two horrors cross, it is not and end that they leave behind, but a beginning. It is a new life, with no memory that anything came before. But the world seems awash in grey while the stars flicker in endless light. |

Kassogtha knows that she is the combined fragments of the souls of others, that her birthright is death and chance, and she has taken that for herself. She was born in the emptiness, the void, and it has an integral place within her being, one that she could not forsake if she tried. Her parents have taken that void and selfishly turned it toward only their own gain, and look where that has gotten them. She will not be like them. The stars wheel overhead with the passage of time as she learns about the abilities she was born with. There are few passerby in the void as she trains herself, but each of those few is drawn to her as if they were drawn by gravity, unable to refuse the call of her being. Each time, something in her insists that she should consume their spirits, make everything about them just one more part of her, but she fights that impulse with everything she has and sends her visitors away - forcefully if needed. It is that, the power to send away those her existence draws, that settles her on the idea of what she will do with her life. There are far more dangers in the infinite cosmos than just she and those like her, and far too many travelers who would otherwise fall afoul of such horrors and their powers. But she can reduce the toll of life exacted by the stars themselves. |
