Biography
| Carnation | [♫] The Arena Master
{ "Write a quote here!" } Carnation was once a traveller; arriving at a coincidental time when Yukon was greatly troubled with the idea of a plague dragon running around, unkempt. Being of great stature and harnessing formidable strength, Yukon had decided to invest in an outwardly opportunistic plan - one with a sinister, underlying purpose. Thus, Dianthus Arena would soon be built along the very reaches of the Everbloom Gardens. Rather than surveying impetuous violence and conflicts himself, Yukon would appoint Carnation as the arena's master - scoring points and preventing quarrels from becoming too violent. At least, that was initially what Yukon wavered towards the massive imperial. Little did the golden king know, Carnation had no intentions of actually following his rule. Since the arena was quite the distance away from Yukon's main territories, he seldom did visit. Meanwhile, Carnation's reign was all but fair - setting up a ludicrous rule set for his gladiators. Dianthus soon became renown as one of the most hostile and cruel coliseums ever built. Dragons in the stands would roar for more, sometimes even demanding the Florons be freed from their temporary cells. Druid dragons of a more wild nature came for the rush - the fear. As for Carnation's affectionately titled Gladiators, they fought for their very lives. A loser would be at the hands of the victor; primeval laws leading towards mercy at the wits of the winner. Most of the time, losers would be spared in the name of their Deity - Her words going above all immoral freedoms. Rarely does a dragon actually lose their life, and cleric dragons are begrudgingly on stand-by. In a deadly game of eye for an eye, one prize above all was the true testament to brutality - the shed, glimmering, and golden antlers of Carnation. Each season lasts about a year, and the victor of the Golden Branches is permitted to permanently retire. When King Yukon does visit, not a peep about Carnation's rule is brought forth. All behave accordingly; bowing their heads, acting friendly, and coddling each other in an almost sickeningly sweet way. It's a good thing that Yukon merely visits to check upon his favoured deputy.
- Unlike most imperials, Carnation does not consume his antlers every season. Rather, they are used as the grand prize for each annual champion. His many-pronged antlers, or "Golden Branches" are as lustrous as gold and as hard as nearly diamonds, making them especially precious.
- Past champions have been known to carve these antlers into something meaningful, or they simply hang them up. It is rumoured that a gleaming rapier made from them exists. |
