Biography

The unseen narrator of the Anime Galaxy Railways
Sparksylph Husk Aged Tome Bottled Embers
Quote:
Episode 1: Sacrifice
Opening
“The infinite universe. So inconceivably vast. Where giant stars are mere pinpricks of light. What man can fathom the magnitude of this amazing ocean of life? Are we but not specks in creation, yet we dare to leave the comfort of our planet and venture forth into boundless space. Is there anything more magnificent to behold than the swirling colors of a planet illuminated by the pure light of a nearby star? And yet as beautiful as the universe is, just a few pebbles out of place can cause a catastrophic amount of destruction.”
Closing
“Plagued by visions of his father’s demise and beset with a torrent of emotions, Mamoru Yuuki courageously set off on his adventure into boundless space. But what lay ahead was most unexpected.”
Quote:
Episode 2: A Knot in Time
Opening
“The universe. Home to all life in the physical plane. Man sets sail and travels this grand ocean, fueled by his hopes and dreams. But sometimes his dreams are crushed and his anguishing heart can only see a dark, cold, and lonely place.”
Closing
“At times fate can seem cruel and arbitrary. But no life lived for others is a waste. No sacrifice is in vain. Every drop of water has its place in the ocean. Every life is a part of destiny’s grand design.”
Quote:
Episode 3: Wheel of Fate
Opening
“Sometimes a person’s beliefs are like the influence of the sun’s gravity on a planet. They cause that person to take a certain, unwavering path. Unable to change the course of their orbit, when they meet with an opposing will with different beliefs, they have no choice but to collide.”
Closing
“Their two opposing wills are like two trains on a crash course. The collision is imminent. Which one will survive and emerge from the wreckage is the unknown. That is a question only destiny can answer.
Quote:
Episode 4: Eternity
Opening
“A long time ago a war broke out on a faraway planet and a black train appeared and picked up the deceased. It is said that the same train appeared after the big accident on Orion line, and then again during the plague on planet Kaizen. The reports concerning these last two instances are similar to the first; a jet black train appeared out of nowhere to pick up the dead. Where did it take them? Nobody knows.”
Closing
“In this life people are brought together and pulled apart again as sure as the tide rises and goes back out to sea. What can man learn from this endless coming together and being torn asunder? What else but to overcome his grief and to expand his love beyond the bounds of space and time.”
Quote:
Episode 5: Hijacked
Opening
“Planet Leo Glando. It’s atmosphere is covered with a thick plasma layer famous for its rich mineral content. Its surface is littered with mining operations. At least once a day an unmanned freight train carries its valuable subterranean treasures to other planets in the galaxy.”
Closing
“Sometimes even disobeying an order is the right thing to do. A man’s conscience must be his ultimate guide.”
Quote:
Episode 6: The Will to Live Part 1
Opening
“In this remarkable journey called life we hurry about trying to get everything done from day to day. There’s little time for anything else, but occasionally this rhythm is broken by unexpected events that pay no heed to the timetables we have set for ourselves.”
Closing
“Nothing renders a man more powerless than when he looses faith in himself. How is it that the same fate which seems to smile and offer us hope can suddenly enshroud our lives in darkness without any warning. Does everything in life truly happen for a reason or are we simply experiencing a series of random, unconnected events?”
Quote:
Episode 7: The Will to Live Part 2
Opening
“On the last Galaxy Railways many lives were lost when a bomb ripped apart a train. The Space Defense Force was on high alert trying to find the author of this dark chapter in Railways history. Little did they know, the real horrors were about to begin. What darkness in a man’s mind is so complete that it causes him to lash out and murder innocent people? What hopelessness is so consuming that it causes him to destroy the hope of others?”
Closing
“Why do bad things happen to good people? Is it simply happenstance, or are the victims of today the transgressors of the past? Are we experiencing what we’ve caused others to experience in lives gone by?”
Quote:
Episode 8: Engine Song
Opening
“Are machines alive? Do they have souls? Of course not, and yet there is an unmistakable feeling of sadness when one of our metal companions meets its end. They serve us and we depend on them. It is this relationship that creates an inexplicable bond.”
Closing
“Sometimes the failures and disappointments of our past are but building blocks; stepping stones that give us the drive and determination we need to succeed in the future. The heroic rescue on Rosamund by a man and his old friend will be talked about for many years to come.”
Quote:
Episode 9: Memory Gallery
Opening
“Each and every one of us have all sorts of memories both good and bad that we keep buried inside of our hearts. We also have cherished memories that we want to keep in our thoughts forever regardless of the effect they have on us. These memories are the record of our lives. What’s more, they may be the evidence we need to prove that we’re alive.”
Closing
“At times it’s true that certain memories can seem like they’re too heavy a burden to carry. But when we are faced with losing them we are forced to recognize for the first time how very precious those painful memories have been to us, and what was once a burden can become our greatest treasure.”
Quote:
Episode 10: Crossroads
Opening
“Galaxy Railways trains stop not only on planets but also at numerous space junctions located throughout the galaxy. There people can change trains and choose their destination. Every so often these stops become a turning point in people’s lives.”
Closing
“In life we build so many walls to protect the delicate and innocent beauty within us. But occasionally life leads us to friends who truly love us. Friends who need not be boxed out of our hearts.”
Quote:
Episode 11: Forgot Me Not
Opening
“It has been said that deep within our hearts a solitary flower blooms. This flower is a vivid reminder of someone made up from the scents and colors of half-forgotten memories. In essence a portrait of someone who is unforgettable to us.”
Closing
“It is possible that the flower that burns in our heart may wither, but it will never die. Nourished by the thousands of emotions and feelings which flow through our heart, it lives and blossoms forever.”
Quote:
Episode 12: Twilight
Opening
“Despite every precaution this planet will soon cease to exist. Just like the countless lives it has nurtured from infancy to old age it too is about to complete its cycle of birth and death. The same sun that gave it life and warmth is about to claim its life and nothing can be done to stop it.”
Closing
No closing quote for this episode, but this one has a beautiful meaning that you will only understand if you watch it.
Quote:
Episode 13: Train Bound for Fate
Opening
“Among the Galaxy Railways trains there is one that has no destination scheduled, not even its next stop. It is the fate of the passengers on board that determines the route of the 777 Express. This mystical train brings each passenger to a place that is along the path of their own destiny. Those who write it are people who are dissatisfied with not knowing what the future holds for them, people who are searching for the key that will unlock the mystery of their own fate. But occasionally someone boards the 777 by accident, or is there such a thing in this life as an accident?”
Closing
“What is this mystery known as destiny? Is the path of a man truly determined before his very birth? Has his every footstep already been made before he ever learns to walk? Perhaps for some this possibility is used as an excuse for some to give up on life. For others it is the comfort they need to strive even harder.”
Quote:
Episode 14: Bond
Opening
“In life’s journey there comes a time when we start carrying our own weight. A time when we say goodbye to the past and embrace the possibilities of the future.”
Closing
“After being hurt in life some of us build defenses. We become hardened and out of fear of getting hurt again we don’t permit ourselves to feel. Oftentimes this goes unchecked and we remain bitter to the end. But in some cases life brings us to a special event that tears down our defenses and fills our hearts with hope once again.”
Quote:
Episode 15: Joint Forces
Opening
“The Vandern meteor stream wanders through space and completes its cycle around the galaxy every several thousand years. This deadly meteor stream is also known as the wandering demon because it devours everything in its path and leaves untold amounts of destruction in its wake. Millions of lives have already been claimed by this roaming beast and the death toll continues to rise.”
Closing
“Sometimes strong-willed people love from afar. They meet and then part ways again like two trains passing in the night. But the bonds tying them together never disappear.”
Quote:
Episode 16: Comrade
Opening
“What is a soul? What is love? Neither can be seen or touched and yet people have always believed in there existence. Perhaps these intangibles are more real than the things we see around us, for all things must pass. But can the same be said of love? Can the same be said of the soul?”
Closing
“What is this invisible mystery called love? Many deny its very existence, but those who experience it know it to be real. Though they cannot touch it, they can feel it in their heart and those who have experienced pure love all agree on one thing: that life would be a hollow pageantry without it.”
Quote:
Episode 17: Armored Goddess
Opening
“A planet where normal tourism is virtually nonexistent, the result of constant extreme winter weather. However, somewhere on this frigid planet the most beautiful jewel in the universe exists. For that reason alone many treasure hunters have traveled to Hargalu in the hopes of finding this fabled, precious jewel. But to this day none of those seekers have ever made it back alive.”
Closing
“The Blue Flame of Isporil has been put to rest for now, but until man can conquer his desires there will always be greed. For that reason someday someone might try to awaken the legend from its sleep.”
Quote:
Episode 18: Life and Death
Opening
“While working to protect law and order many dangerous situations arise. Oftentimes one individual will die while the one standing next to him will be spared. But these survivors are usually not branded as lucky. On the contrary they are usually avoided by their peers in battle because they are seen as emissaries of death.”
Closing
“After many disagreements and conflicts, two men have arrived together at an unexpected destination. A destination known as friendship.”
Quote:
Episode 19: Tranquility
Opening
“Regardless of what people do in life there is always a need to take a step back and look for peace and tranquility. But for those who live a disciplined life of fighting for justice every day that peace and tranquility can be hard to find.”
Closing
“True relaxation often comes in short, fleeting moments. Not long after it arrives it usually departs. But even though these times of peace are brief they leave an indelible imprint on our hearts.”
Quote:
Episode 20: Choice
Opening
“All of us must make our way along the road called life, and when that road eventually comes to a fork we must rely on instinct and decide which way to go.”
Closing
“Sometimes even ambitious people turn down a higher position. To these rare few only feelings matter, not status. They realize that without the love shared between friends and a joyful outlook on life, even a promotion can be a step down.”
Quote:
Episode 21: The Revolt
Opening
“Kowloon. A city that is infamous for being one of the most dangerous places in the galaxy. No one dare goes to this lawless metropolis. Kowloon is also known by another name. It is often called the Labyrinth of Death.”
Closing
“It seems that destiny itself has derailed from its appointed track. The future of the universe is now careening into the darkness like a runaway train. Where will it end up? Nobody knows.”
Quote:
Episode 22: The Merciless Wind
Opening
There are no opening quotes for this episode, but considering the circumstances our main characters have found themselves in, it’s quite fitting.
Closing
“So many times death often comes like a thief in the night. Unwanted and unannounced. Another soul has passed into the unknown with no one to keep him company and no one to soothe him. Save the love of his friends who seemed like they were an eternity away.”
Quote:
Sasha here. The reason the closing quote above seems so dark, is because it is. Something unimaginable has happened to our main group of characters that changes their lives forever. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out what happened based on the quote above, but it’s the circumstances surrounding the event that makes it so tragic. I suggest watching the show if you want to find out exactly how it happened.
Quote:
Episode 23: The Cruel Verdict
Opening
“Stations. The places where we greet our loved ones and the places that we goodbye. The platforms are stained with the tears of elation and tears of grief. The sadness of a departure soon turns into the joy of an arrival, but on occasion due to fate the promise of a happy return is shattered and an ordinary departure turns out to be final."
Closing
“Too often people in positions of power cannot see the solution to the problem at hand because of their own narrow mindedness. Their lack of vision then causes the death of many people.”
Quote:
Episode 24: Blazing Galaxy
Opening
“In the great tapestry of the universe there are patterns that are woven by the desires of the souls that inhabit it. Those few who learn to see these patterns can also see into the future. But when this universal tapestry is torn the natural order of things is lost and nothing is certain. Especially the future.”
Closing
“Sirius Platoon has set off on their mission, determined to overcome the fear and doubt that disables them. With the hope of the galaxy resting squarely on their shoulders, they have no choice but to fly bravely on towards their destiny.”
Quote:
Episode 25: Echoes of Life
Opening
“The absurdly powerful Alfort fleet is on its way to destroy planet Destiny. The lives of millions of innocent men, women, and children are hanging in the balance. Answering their call Big One is taking off to join the last line of defense. Their success means life, failure death.”
Closing
“Young men and women of the SDF. So brave and passionate. Your sacrifices will not be forgotten. They will live on in our hearts, in every child’s smile, in every breath we take.”
FYI: This quote isn’t said by the actual narrator, but it’s still an ending quote so I included it
Quote:
Episode 26: Eternal Hope
Opening
“The infinite universe, each of its enchanting galaxies teeming with individual lives. Each life like a bubble in a vast ocean, here one moment and gone the next. But though they are impermanent each life is so vital, each one a thread in the grand design. How we live is everything. It is our contribution, our brushstroke on the painting of reality. Some hold back nothing. They give back to existence what it has given them; life itself. As for those who their very life to protect the lives of others, their examples live on and give us great strength.”
Closing
“The dreams of a child may seem like innocent folly, but if carried through they have the power to change the universe. The Galaxy Railways continues to connect the hearts of all lives in the universe, offering endless possibilities to those who travel on its lines. As it continues to expand, so do the dreams of man. So long as we desire to embrace the infinite, the railways will always be there. And if there is ever a time when life takes a troubled face and darkness clouds the mind, just look up and you’ll see the light of a train heading to new horizons, it might even be Big One, the legendary locomotive that saved the universe.”

For those of you who’ve read this far, I thank you. This anime holds a special place in my heart. About five years ago I was trying to figure out how who I really was and really struggling with family life. I found the first episode one day when I was browsing YouTube, and thought it looked interesting enough to watch, so I did so. I finished it within a week. It made me laugh and cry in a lot of different ways, and was the first anime I’ve ever watched all the way through. When school started that fall, I kinda left it behind. Recently, it appeared on my YouTube recommendations and I couldn’t help but sucked in again. The concept of trains in space may seem a bit strange, but it’s worth giving a chance. I know I’m rambling at this point, but if you have time and you’re interested, look it up. It might be worth it in the end. I know it was for me.
