"She's bigger than you, and she's still just a hatchling." Avery teased, whipping her tail playfully at Bludgeon next to her. He did not look amused, though it had always been impossible to tell what he was thinking.

He made a faint noise instead of responding, poking the small prismatic hatchling. "Yes, she is. She is also alone." The hatchling flared her ruff at him, displaying her confirmation. Bludgeon repeated the noise, flaring his ruff back in a similar motion.

Colette doesn't remember her early days as a hatchling, but the stories her adoptive parents tell more than make up for it. What Avery had thought to be a particularly interesting flower turned out to be a Fae hatchling, one that they were quick to take into their care. While Colette is still very young, she has already begun to show bits of her personality - loud and excitable, all accompanied by the harsh contrast of that monotonous tone most Fae seem to have.
