Biography
.
Lux Aeternum
The light eternal. A grand temple ascends from the heart of the city, its walls a lustrous white. Grand spires accented with gold filigree pierce above the skyline. The city stands, brilliant and splendid against the impenetrable, fogbound shadow that has seized the land just beyond its borders. "A bastion of light to cast away the darkness." But, wisps of fog still seep over the runed protective walls into the southern districts and the splendor of the central district hides a rot that has penetrated the very foundations of the city. |
The Sanctuary
Once a revered and bustling temple to the Lightweaver located in the center of the city, the Sanctuary now sits in Mist Row and has been ravaged by time and disrepair. It now serves as the sole refuge for Lux Aeternum's Shade-afflicted denizens. Despite being an open secret within the city, the Order seems to tolerate its existence. |
Solar Circle
Located in the center of Lux Aeternum, the Solar Circle is the city capitol containing the temple that hosts the official offices, the barracks, and Great Library, access to which is severely restricted to only those granted explicit permission by the Order. 1: The Capitol | 2: Barraks | 3: Scholars' Quarter | 4: Catacombs |
City Streets
While merely a ghost of its former glory, many dragons still call Lux Aeternum home. Some have ties to the city dating back generations while others are newcomers drawn to the city's precarious position out of either misplaced bravery or morbid curiosity. 1: Main Thoroughfare | 2: Merchant Row | 3: The Mists |
Outside
While the Order is eager to emphasize the dangers of the ruins beyond the city's walls, few need reminding. Strange things lurk in the mist that prey upon the minds of the weak or unwary. 1: Stricken District | 2: The Hewn City |
The Gates
As the first--relatively--safe settlement north of the Hewn City, Lux Aeternum still sees a steady stream of visitors pass through. There are accommodations available for every breed. 1: Sales | 2: Fodder/Pending |

About This Lair
✦Random friend requests welcome. If it's an accidental request and you don't want me on your friend list, no hard feelings if you quietly remove me after I accept. ✦If you get a random friend request from me, it's 100% because I accidentally hit the 'request' button while on mobile. Feel free to do whatever you want with it. ✦Dragons in temporary tabs (fodder, breeding projects, etc) are usually up for grabs. I also welcome inquiries about dragons in my permanent tab as well. ✦If I picked up a mispriced dragon, feel free to PM me (I may ask for proof if its a high value dragon). ✦While there are a few dragons I'd like to keep unbred, I'm more than happy to help out with breeding projects. ✦Honestly I'm overall open to PMs for whatever reason-- I don't bite! |

Lore
✦Note: Expect themes of (fictional) religion, abuse/oppression through religion, violence, and body horror. I'll try my best to mark out when these themes pop up on the top of individual bios✦ Nearly a millennia ago, Lux Aeternum-- then known as Lighthaven-- was a different place than it is today. Its position in the southern end of the Light Territory was a boon--close enough to be the first large Light settlement welcoming every merchant traveling from the south while still being far enough from the Hewn City to avoid its horrors. For generations, the city was a prosperous place filled with life and wonder. Fed by the varied commerce that graced its borders every day, Lighthaven grew. Having grown complacent from years of silence from the Hewn City, the city expanded in all directions, its leaders ignoring warnings from refugees fleeing from smaller villages that were slowly being engulfed by the shifting ruins... After The Devouring, a religious group known as the Luminous Order seized control. Weary and simply trying to make sense of the chaos the tragedy left in its wake, few surviving residents resisted. Those that did fared poorly against the Order's trained fighters and sorcerers. The Order renamed the city Lux Aeternum, instituting a theocratic system of their own design as its new government. Vehemently opposed to the Shade and anything they deem as stinking of its corruption, the Order rebuilt the city as a military stronghold, a bastion between the ruin and the rest of the Light Territory. |
Notes about my version of Sorneith Dragon shapes and sizes All dragons are dragons unless stated otherwise in their bios. I like giving my dragons gijinka designs but they are usually not canon. Relative size differences between breeds are the same but not quite as drastic as FR canon. Deities Lux Aeternum exists hundreds of generations into the Third Age. The knowledge that the cataclysm that ushered in this age were real occurrences has long since passed from the collective memory of dragonkind. The Eleven remain largely silent in the affairs of the mortal world so for most, the Eleven are ineffable forces whose existences are a matter of faith rather than physical fact. Many religions seem to revere a variation of at least one--if not all eleven-- of the deities but the depictions of these beings vary greatly and there are a significant number of cultures that revere forces completely unrelated to the Eleven. Beastclans The Beastclans are not canon to this version of Sornieth and don't exist. Most of the familiars attached to dragons are mechanical rather than for lore purposes. |
