All that fuss and bother. Harvest baskets, packing crates, and bushels of who knew what. Not yet the Earthshaker's time and already everyone was in a tizzy over the annual food gifting. Not that anyone in this clan was going to actually deliver the food baskets. No. Too much contact with the rest of the Realm. But they so did love to make sure the clans that did the gifting had to work overtime.

Arturi nestled deeper into his pile of dried ceder branches and fallen leaves. If he settled just right he could watch without being noticed. He wasn't against the food baskets and the gifting. But as the world died, as it did every fall, he wanted to savor the Plaguebringer's time. The quiet and still of the end of the growing season, the rustle of the dried leaves, the crunch of dead grass under his paws. Lulled by thoughts of autumn, Arturi curled a little tighter around his Effigy and dozed, listening to the pleasant music of his clanmates squabbling over how to best pack apples.
