Story: Fate, or Chance?

Obsidiana was going to the fairgrounds as usual. As the many stands were there, she just decided to play Higher or Lower, as no time limit was present, and it was simple.

When she got there, a mysterious shadowed Nocturne
ForTheStory
was there, dealing the cards.
"Oh, hello there. Want to play a simple card game?"

"Sure, why not," Obsidiana replied, "Higher or Lower does earn good pocket change."

The first round.
Face up card: 12.
"I'm gonna guess... lower." Obsidiana stated, after seeing the number.
Face down card: 1.
"Well well well, you guessed right," was the mystery dragon's reply, "Tell me, have you heard of 'Arenji'?" The stranger inquired.
"What?" A confused reply from Obsidiana.
"Arenji. The deity of chance and fate. He is above all these flights' deities, being the one responsible for all that happens in chance, from which enemies are faced in the Coliseum, to this simple game."
"Huh."
Face up: 4
Guess: Higher.
Face down: 12.
"See, Arenji was the one to pick which card it was. He may be capricious, but he is fair if you know what is more likely."
A few more rounds, some wins, some losses, and then the game was done. There was no discussion in that time.
"May Arenji bring you good luck, friend." The stranger bid a farewell.
"Okay, bye, I guess." Obsidiana replied, unsure what all that was about.

Later, Obsidiana tried asking around the stalls to see if anyone saw a dragon that looked like the one she saw, but none had seen such a dragon.
"Dad, I need advice."
LogFourShell, Log for short, was freaking out.
"What happened?"
"It's about Kismet."
This greatly worried Conficker. Something bad must have went down.
"I haven't seen her in quite a while, what happened?"
"See, a couple days ago, we went on a trip to see what the rumors were about..."
"The rumors of a new breed?"
"Yeah. But then, Kismet ran off, and..."
A third voice interrupted.
"Don't tell me. She tried to taste the Forbidden Soup?"
"The what?"
Lavender soon joined in. "Oh, that's a Plague euphemism for 'swam in the Wyrmwound'."
"Yeah, then I guess she tried to taste the Forbidden Soup."
"What happened?"
"Well, good news, there is a new breed on Sornieth."
"Bad news?"
"Bad news, now I have to deal with two hatchlings for the price of one egg."
"Huh. Well, good luck!"
Lore: Wayward Scraps

"Everyone, we're gathered here to talk about matters of importance to this clan," Capewing started her speech, "Particularly the scrap of paper Aldanon found."
"So what's the big deal?!" Ambre's annoyance could be heard loud and clear.
"Well, the paper had some writing on it that was there for some reason. I've transcribed the text onto two sheets for clarity reasons."
With that, the Gaoler placed the first sheet on the table.
"That... is a lot of wraps." Cayenne's comment was obvious. "At least we already have the neck wrap?"
"It gets worse." Aldanon placed the second sheet.
"OH, COME ON!" It was clear how Ambre saw the situation. "This is gonna cost us SO many gems, and we STILL need to get me my breed change and genes..."
"...At least we can tell that these are clearly fandragon plans," Aldanon began, "that are actually gonna be worked on?"
Lore: A Peculiar Visitor
(POV: Lily's writing)
Dear journal,
Today, a peculiar visitor by the name of "Aynat" stopped by, bringing gifts and a hatchling.
The hatchling has settled in quite nicely, and the gifts are of use.
Apparently, Aynat stops by lairs with generosity, leaving small gifts to help in fulfilling wishlists.
We are grateful she visited, and wish her well.

Lore: Encounter - Part 1

Starlit Threads Clan is no stranger to odd encounters.
Ever since the clan's founding, the dragons in this clan have been aware of a "spirit" of sorts that does not reside in Sornieth, but oversees the clan nonetheless, and that other clans have "spirits" of their own linked to each of them.
So to encounter a strange dragon by the name of "Clan" was not really much different.
It appeared that Clan and his children were linked to various areas of Sornieth, from each clan's nesting grounds, to the coliseum battles, and to even what most "spirits" saw upon beginning to view the clan itself.
And honestly, nobody in the clan really CARED if their lives were but a simulation. After all, they were here and alive, even if that life was simulated, artificial.
But it did explain some things.
For example, the mentions of a deity called "Arenji" who controlled chance and fate. Ar-En-Ji. RNG. Random Number Generator.
And those "spirits" bound to clans? If their world was in a game, one apparently called "Flight Rising" according to some of the offspring of "Clan", then those "spirits" were players of the game, each one an individual.
And why some dragons appeared, and seemed to have memories of other lives, they did have those lives, in a way, being based on characters, songs, and stories that the clans' "spirits" liked.
Perhaps, due to all this knowledge, and everyone's outlooks on existence, the idea of being even just bits of data on a screen with a story given by beings beyond their world seemed... easily understood.
Lore: Encounter - Part 2

When Storyteller and Inkpen first arrived to the clan, there was an... incident where Storyteller was found scribbling all over the cover of one of Welchia's books. Fortunately, the mess was washed off before any real damage was done, but it was clear that Storyteller was going to be a clawful of a hatchling. Hey, I'm not that bad! I even helped clean off the drawings! You only did that AFTER you copied the drawings onto blank paper sheets, and you only did THAT after a bit of arguing with Welchia. Kids, can you NOT comment while I'm still writing? (sorry)
