Biography
Myadis could not clear the vision from her mind, from when her eyes first opened to see the horror reflected back at her from her father's gaze. She recalled him stumbling backwards, egg shells crackling under his feet, lips raised to reveal his teeth, eyes feral and fearful.
"Midas," came the name hissed from between his fangs, a word she had only recently come to understand.
Midas meant monster. Meant envy. Meant abandonment.
She wasn't any of that, though sometimes she wanted to be. She wanted to run from the dark caverns of her birthclan, to abandon her parents; she envied the love her father held for all the siblings before her; she wanted to roar at him, to destroy, to be the monster he saw her as to prove to him that she could be so, so much worse than she was. But she wasn't.
She wasn't Midas her grandfather, who pledged his heart and soul to a monster and abandoned his son, nor was she that very monster, Midas, who turned all she touched to gold. Whom used her gift, her curse, to punish and torture.
She would never be those drakes, she was Myadis. Myadis who treasured the affections of her mother and longed only for the loving gaze of her father; Myadis who tried so hard to not be seen as the monster that haunted her reflection in the eyes of others.
Myadis who wished to never become Midas.
