Padparadscha, usually known as Padma, is a kind,

gregarious dragon who bears a fondness for flora typical of Nature dragons. She is adept at cultivating aquatic and semi-aquatic plants in particular, and she has dotted many waterways with the lotus flowers from which she derives her nickname. The flowers serve a practical purpose, sustaining some of the herbivores of the clan and creating a shaded environment for small frogs and fishes which serve as snacks for some of her clan's more carnivorous residents. Despite her gentleness and disinclination towards arguments, Padma is well experienced with combat. The scars of this are evident, and most members of the clan are aware that she lost her sight to an acid ant. However, most members of the clan are not aware that she has continued training nonetheless, using nature magic to detect, with brutal efficiency, the shadows cast by opponents, the weight which they place upon the ground, and the currents cast by their wings. Padma is not as agile or quick in battle as she once was, but a tactical use of elementally-bolstered attacks has allowed her to give even Jayfajel a run for her money. Strong though she is in battle, Padma views training primarily as a social activity, and bears no great desire to forsake her beloved plants for a life of combat. Due to her friendliness and provision of foodstuffs to the clan, she has no obvious enemies, and is generally viewed as a kind acquaintance. Padma is one of the few dragons who the morose Guardian, Inara, tolerates. |

═════════════════════════════════════════════════════Padparadscha is almost as wise and mutable as the Wild Sanctum, under whose shadow she was raised. Despite her intimidating bulk and enormous wingspan, she has a soft-spoken, rather shy demeanor, as though afraid of social exclusion. Nobody knows what fluke of nature or nuture has caused this- neither her past nor her present clan were particularly judgmental places. Some dragons, particularly those native to the Viridian Labyrinth, suspect that Padma's self-consciousness could be a byproduct of her environment- the jungle is more easily navigable by larger dragon breeds on foot, rather than through the leafchoked air, and some regions can scarcely be crossed by the larger breeds without suffering damage. Others suspect it to be something more innate than this. Whatever the cause, Padma is both friendly and fairly sensitive to social judgement. She seems to greatly prefer battling monsters and disasters to facing arguments within her clan. Padma is an expert on the ways of plants, although she herself enjoys a diet of insects and fish. She doesn't disperse her wisdom much unless actually asked for it, but to those who want to listen she is an excellent font of specific information. Padma's experience with the natural pools and waterways of the Gladekeeper's domain, in addition to her increasing experience with the Sunbeam Ruin's more localized waterways, has enabled her to give good advice when it comes to her present clan's small, artificial canals. The advice which Petrel has managed to coax out of Padma has enabled the Coatl to implement a greater variety of sanitation measures to prevent the narrow canals from becoming plagued and dangerous in the summer heat. Although she has made her home in the Lightweaver's domain, Padparadscha bears a quintessentially Nature outlook on life. She views living things as a boon in and of themselves, but she also acknowledges nature as both a constructive and a destructive force, ever-mutable and capable of both sustaining and annihilating its creations. Padma appears to trust flora far more than fauna of any sort (including other dragons), perhaps because she has a better understanding of plants than other lifeforms, perhaps because she can control them and predict their behavior more accurately than the faster responses of animals. The fact that most of her battles have been against animals and peoples entirely unrelated to plants hasn't helped either. The Obelisk seems to prefer the company of creatures which are partially plant-like in nature. Padma gets along well with the dryads that dot the clan's territory, and has been instrumental in protecting their domains from the alterations experienced by most of the landscape. Shy though she may be, Padparadscha is not one to back down from a fight should one be inevitable. She is not skilled in arguments, but in battle she is quite ruthless. With survival and victory as her primary objectives, Padma views very few tactics as being too underhanded to use and, while she initially attempts to subdue enemies (particularly those who may have been Shade-touched), she is no stranger to killing those who would readily kill her. More mundanely, Padma's attitude towards battle is manifest as a decidedly stubborn streak. While she isn't one to declare her views publicly, among friends and those with whom she is comfortable discussing her opinions, she has a reputation for seldom altering her views. Fortunately, Padma is not the type to take a stance on everything, and requires a great deal of thought before coming to a conclusion in most arguments, so her stubbornness has rarely led to any sort of dispute. |

═════════════════════════════════════════════════Triflora is an odd glob of elemental forces. It probably arose as a result of that yearly upsurge in magic, the Night of the Nocturne, although nobody is quite sure of its provenance. All that is known for certain is that Padparadscha found the three orbs weakly humming in a neighboring field, and nursed the entity back to health as best she could. This appears to have paid off- Triflora is in great health. It seems quite loyal to Padma, and often follows her around. The spirit can even provide a little warmth in the winter, and boil water for tea, although it much prefers causing mild mischief among dragons and their familiars. The dour Inara is a frequent recipient of Triflora's pranks. |
