These spells are the descendants of Latte and Chocolate. The shiny kids are those with earth magics, a knack for pulling treasures from the earth, while the plague dragons have acidic powers. Their runes and circuits are sigils that bind them to their secondary elemental powers inherited by their family’s founders.

Spectacular Spells Lineage
Latte & Chocolate >> Me!

As the eldest of her clutch, Spellshadow excelled in magic much earlier than most. She loved the attention that her mothers gave her when she shot acid before her her siblings could fly, but when they developed their magic, she quickly fell into the background. She wasn't upset at anyone, of course, but it still hurt.

When the caravan was travelling to the north-western part of the Scarred Wastelands, she decided she'd had enough. She loved her family, but she could tell that neither Latte nor Chocolate were planning on keeping any of the kids around. Before she set off, she decided to say goodbye to her siblings, but found that both were not in their usual spots. She looked around as best as she could without waking anyone, but could not find them.

Guess they had the same idea, she decided, and took off into the night. As she flew, it was extremely easy to navigate the landscape, almost as though it was a part of her, pointing her further north. She kept going, and soon the silhouette of massive walls appeared. Seeing it gave her the last bit of strength to pump her tiny wings forwards, until she collapsed atop the edge of wall. She was able to barely make out the shape of sprawling buildings before failing to keep her eyes open.

When she woke up again, she glided down into the city, and began asking questions. After several times of being ignored, she learned quite a few things. She was in Opovder, the Walled City. Nearly everyone had felt that feeling of being guided to this place. And that there was no turning back.

. . .

Living in Opovder was quite the adventure. After setting up a small, private, den suitable for honing her magic, she met a young Skydancer. He'd shown up the same way she had, and Spellshadow could instantly tell that he had the the potential to be a powerful Wind user.

"How would you like to train with me?" she asked him, halfway through his rambling.

"But, you don't even know who I am!" he objected, "Or my name!"

"Then tell me."

. . .

After a while, Varium had basically moved in. They had a strict routine: wake up, go into to town for breakfast and the most recent news, train together, eat lunch, train separately, cool off, and eat dinner.

It used to be that the Skydancer would go back to his den after dinner, but lately he'd been insisting on staying in the cramped den. If it were anyone else, Spellshadow would chase them off, but. . . he was different.

The good kind.
