Maya

Maya is one of Tike’s wards, though an observer might be bemused by this, for the Wildclaw’s influence doesn’t seem to be as strong in this young Nocturne. Studious, quiet, and conscientious, Maya prefers to spend his free time reading books. Though tales from history appeal most to him, he’ll read almost anything that presents itself. And with his helpfulness and attention to duty, many of his older clanmates believe he’ll earn a job in administration someday.

Maya doesn’t spend all of his time reading, though. His constant companion is the Obelisk, Nico. This is not entirely out of a sense of fun, for Nico is a notorious prankster, and Maya always feels honor-bound to warn her targets of her plans. His advice is as good as gold, and many a blunder has been averted by him before it could even begin.

With this constant cycle of Nico setting up pranks and Maya defusing them, one might believe them to be rivals. Nothing could be further from the truth: Despite Maya neutralizing even the most complicated setups and refusing to support her pranks, Nico remains fond of him. Indeed, he is one of the few she refuses to play pranks on. His presence seems to have a calming effect on the Obelisk, and on days when puckish inspiration doesn’t strike, she can be found sitting quietly while Maya regales her with tales from his books. This is when he is most alive: sharing knowledge and stories that have set his mind alight.

Maya remains patient with his friend. Many of his fellows might say that he is too nice for his own good, but his brand of dutiful, responsible kindness is always welcome, and the clan is definitely happy to have him.
