Curious Machines

Built long ago to construct a magnificent temple, these dragon-shaped machines were trapped when the structure sunk beneath the sand, eventually forgotten to time.

One day, two explorers discovered the temple and found the old machines. They seemed to be as any other machine, bolts and magic-charged circuits, but these were strange automatons. Over the countless years they had developed a sort of sentience, crudely mimicking what they remembered of their ancient creators and exploring their newfound curiosity in art and expression, and forming bonds with one another that resembled the varied relationships of the living dragons from the world above. It was as if some magic in the temple had stirred within them a life of their own.

When the adventurers left, two of the machines stepped forward to follow, and, slowly, more and more have emerged to explore the world that had forgotten them long ago.
