the introduction The fae shuffles across the desert, tail trailing a path across the sand. Exaust. Why is he still walking? What is his destination? Is he walking on sand, or on lava? The soles of his talons burn and are scraped raw, every breath is sand and dust. His eyes droop, his steps stumble and he falls. There is no point of getting up. To continue walking was only extending his suffering. Surrender. Dull eyes fall shut. The fae knows they will never open again when they do. So far away from his home, would anyone remember him? His eyes flicker open with a small surge of energy, his body's last feeble effort at maintaining functions. Sand is the only thing that greets him. Sand, and a figure. Or multiple. Reap. A blade is at his throat, his head being lifted. He makes a hoarse noise. A creature stares at him with white, empty eyes. Something resembling a grin breaks out across it's skullish features. It laughs. A cackling, sickening laugh that can echo even without walls to reverberate off of. The creature starts to prod and squish at his face, as if it had never seen something such as him before. Carefully, as if not wanting to hurt the fae, it lifted him up towards his face. A small vibrating vwirp sounded from it's throat, patting him on the head. " Funny thing, aren't you?" It sat down, stroking the fae as if he was a pet, " Don't worry, Jarlkin will make your last moments relaxed." Jarlkin. It was pronounced oddly, a result of a mix of the creature's, no, Jarlkin's, odd voice and accent. The statement was eerie in a way, Jarlkin making no effort to save him. As if there was no other option but to die. He closed his eyes. |
