Skrumpel was one of the Clan's brightest minds until her untimely demise at the hands of the best killer of them all: Old age
Of course, never being one to shy away from such contingencies, she left her (at the time) young student Sheogorath all her more...theoretical research. However, given that her research included incredibly illegal subjects at the time it took quite a few years before anything would come into fruition.
Magical radiation, unlike its natural counterpart, has rather unique properties that when harnessed correctly has incredible amplification in the cells of a dragon; Of course the type of amplification varies greatly depending on both the individuals biology, element, and the amount the subject is exposed to. Too little and the effects are temporary at best, too much and you get another Arcanist situation.
This amplification, in theory, could be applied to the internal organs of a dragon to revert any sustained damage done by the aging process to not only halt it, but even reverse, giving longevity and potential revival of the dead to anyone.
Theres a reason this research was made illegal.
