Tanwen found freedom in the crew of the Cursed Queen. Shunned by the noblewomen of her homeland for her blunt manner and quick temper, she leaped at the first opportunity to leave. She met Calypso while hiding from her family in a portside bar. Tanwen knew little about being a pirate and Calypso knew little about being a captain, but they worked well together.

Together, they managed to establish a competent crew, and with Calypso's mind for strategy, and Tanwen's brutal skill with fire magic, their crew quickly became feared. Tanwen very much enjoys being Calypso's first mate and second in command, and takes a perverse sort of pleasure in seeing her face on wanted posters.

Tanwen enjoys the thrill of the chase, even when she's being the one chased. She's usually in charge of all land-based raids and heists, as she's the fastest on foot, and the only one who actually enjoys the high-stakes nature. She's also very adept at picking out other crew members who have skills useful to a particular mission, which is part of the reason Calypso picked her for First Mate.

Tanwen also enjoys being chased in the romantic sense, wich worked out well for her as Ciaran enjoys chasing her as much as she enjoys being chased. The two met in a bar while chaperoning their respective captains, and have enjoyed a casual relationship ever since.
