To her father's joy, Dianyan didn't inherit his Praecantilion nature. She does, however, have a strong aura of magic hanging around her. It can affect those around her in the sense that their magic improves if in Dianyan's presence. This ability is similar to Empress Xinling's, though Dianyan's aura has a range of only a few feet. It is theorized that Hengjiu must have consumed an ample amount of magical essence the day Dianyan was conceived, thus affecting her with the amount of magical essence in his body. However, knowing how little Hengjiu eats, the theory has water leaking out of it, so Dianyan's aura is a mystery.

It is because of Dianyan's aura that she is not well-known outside of the nobility. Her parents know that there are those that would use Dianyan as a tortured battery to power their spells, so they make sure Dianyan's presence stays unknown outside of the nobility. As such, Dianyan's life is very sheltered, but she is happy, her parents adore her, and much of the nobility describe her as a well-mannered and bright young lady.

And yet, she yearns for more....
