The very entrance to the Hive, adorned with many desks and employee-only areas. It's a large hall accessed through the Crystalline Ruins on the surface and acts as the welcome area of the entire Hive itself, staffed with employees and guards that limit who can enter the clan.

It's structured like an official government's building, complete with several offices behind doors and a large waiting room. The magazines on the tables are foreign, speaking of news that are happening outside of Sornieth. When asked about it, the employees shrug.

Ever since she was a hatchling, she loved to collect stories. It started with playground rumors, with stories told by older dragons, with stories told by those who took her on hunting trips.

The interest did not fade as she grew up. When the SERAPH told her the stories of their origin, she wanted to keep them documented. This time it was different, however. The SERAPH felt different. She wanted to keep basking in the divine aura. She stayed.

xhTf31A.png Band 1: The Hive and it's Origins

The Origin of the Hive is the SERAPH, born from the stars only to create a species like his own. Crystalline Hivemind, with a shared consciousness and asexual reproduction. Virtues such as gender and identity are not ones carried in the Hive, as the SERAPH is the one who represents their shared consciousness. All is done in the name of their God. A consciousness so powerful, it would drive mortal beings insane to understand it.

Yet, he descended upon earth when the time came, letting dragons into his eldritch kingdom. They will become part of him and follow his orders, and yet are protected by a divine power. Those accepted into the Hive are undying, eternally youthful and grow stronger, all at the cost at worshiping the very being that gave them such a power.

The Hive Crystal interacts with them, possessing their bodies but letting them stay individual. Growing shiny opals on ones body is a sign that the SERAPH has accepted them as a member, and so is getting the ability to telepathically communicate with the rest of the Hive. Hatchlings born into this lair will be inscribed with the holy rune of the SERAPH at the moment of their birth and carry it with them for the rest of their lives, no matter where they go.

The SERAPH shares his eldritch roots with his draconian children, ascending them to a higher state of consciousness and intelligence.

xhTf31A.png Band 2: The SERAPH himself and his Celestial Mate

The SERAPH is a holy figure born from the stars. They have no need for a permanent body, as they transform into what the inhabitants of a reality would prefer to see. Often, they are called Monolith of Fate, as they use unbreakable celestial chains to bind realities to their body and keep them alive. They protect worlds from collapsing prematurely to keep the balance of the universe.

They mostly appear as a female guardian with a male voice and the size of a large Imperial. Glowing eyes and 3 pairs of wings stick out of his form as they approach, in their elegant but eldritch glow. Their form varies a lot, as they shapeshift almost daily to suit their needs. Dragons within the Hive tend to portray him in his most common form.

They watch over their smaller children, with beyond 20 thousand years of experience, delivering wisdom and care for those in need. As a cluster of Hivemind forming one draconian being, they can be everywhere at once, sensing when problems arise. It's not yet clear if they are fully benevolent or carry a malevolent will behind their parental care.

Their Celestial Mate, bound by fate to the SERAPH, is a stowaway soul from the previous world. Having been married to the SERAPH before they even traveled to Sornieth, he is bound to them as if the universe had kept them married even after his death. He may not look holy but even he, appearing as a small mirror with a trail of purple black flames blazing from his front paws, is a being of celestial reincarnation.

The SERAPH adores him dearly. There is no one else they would want so close to them.

xhTf31A.png Band 3: Dragons within the Hive

Dragons within the Hive are becoming part of the SERAPH, mentally and physically. They develop enhance senses, telepathic communication with the rest of the Hive, enhance strength and speed as well as growing the parasitic crystals on their bodies or inside their bodies. These developments are what qualifies dragons, and other living beings in the Hive as part of it. The Guards at the Hive Entrance scan incoming dragons on those qualities and if they don't have them, they are followed by one of the Hive members for security.

Dragons born in the Hive carry a special spell mark and are born with the crystal connected to their bodies. That mark is a biological tracker, as it can be used to find dragons who leave the Hive in emergencies or even just spy out where former Hive members are residing at the current moment. However, unless there is a full on confrontation, there isn't much combat and spy use made out of the irremovable mark. None of the dragons within the Hive are forced to stay, as it's a worship based operation.

There have been a few select cases of traitors within the Hive, as they used elemental water magic to attack the Hive from within, however their names are unknown as they disappeared after the SERAPH made their way personally to deal with it. Hive Dragons rumor that they were banished into an alternative reality to punish them for their misdeeds, forced to survive in an unknown apocalyptic environment. The SERAPH never elaborated what exactly they did.

At times, they have to eliminate outside shade-touched dragons, as they are drawn to the pulsing eldritch energy of their lair. If one of the Hive Dragons is affected by the shade, the Hivemind mindset usually overtakes the shade-touched ailment, with the SERAPH having the ability to banish the entity possessing his Hive Members through telepathic magic quickly. Being the celestial embodiment of a parasitic species, he knows the in and outs of such affairs by heart.

xhTf31A.png Band 4: Structure and Work in the Hive

Due to the Hive being a Hivemind collective, the Hive has a strong hierarchy when it comes to work and living.

The Hive is separated into different levels of authority, starting with Neyith and Shadowy at the top, as the deities of the Hive. Every other dragon in the Hive bows down to them and offers them farmed goods to appease them. The Hive is rampant in their worship, as they will go as far as defend the SERAPHs honor against outsiders and betrayers.

Next in line, the Hive Organisation Staff stands in for the Divine Pair, in the matters of dealing with the overall structure, gathering, hunting and resource distribution within the Hive. They are well respected by the other dragons, almost as elders. Often, they are asked for advice by lower ladders of the Hive. The highest members of the HOS have direct line to the SERAPH and are deeply infatuated with them.

The Science Departments are all on the same ladder, being directly under the HOS. However, the individual departments all work with each other and sometimes trade members to develop the most accurate research papers. The Departments all have individual leaders that control the workflow of the rest of the crew.

The last ladder are the dragons living in the Stellar Eden, with no work obligations, as the SERAPH picks out the dragons that are best suited for the Science Departments. However, they are still respected members of the Hive, as they provide things that gives all dragons in the Hive comfort. Some of them have their own shops where they sell handmade things, homecooked food and even art.
Even the highest members of the HOS come down to the Stellar Eden to enjoy the comfortable environment and rich culture. The inhabitants of the Stellar Eden make up the cultural layer of the Hive, with many dragons of different flights putting in their own influences.

cezOh70.png

xhTf31A.png Band 5: Magic in the Hive

The SERAPHs influence is stronger than both the shade and the deities elemental influence, so dragons in the Hive develop different magic and different ways to use elemental magic. With his power being eldritch in nature, it's a type of foreign energy that mutates dragons quickly and heavily boosts existing flight based magic. It leads to the Hive producing extremely powerful mages and physical warriors, as they use magic to boost their bodies to be stronger and more hardy.

The SERAPHs army is known to be fercious if met in battle by the nearby clans, however, they are very peaceful if not provoked.

To test the effects of the different development, the SERAPH opened a copy of the current world as a testing ground in a bubble universe, at the science team's request:

-Arcane Magic was shown to be strong enough to rip open space and summon foreign gods when tested
at maximum capacity by the science team

-Earth Magic was shown to be able to cause region wide earthquakes and able to create deadly mountain
sized spikes when tested at maximum capacity

-Fire Magic scorched entire forests, wiped out all wildlife and caused several volcanoes to erupt in the
area when pushed to it's maximum capacity. Non-Hive beings exploded in the intense heat.

-Ice Magic causes an intense ice age and the mass death of thousands of species as the temperatures dropped into freezing the entire world into a dead desert at maximum capacity.

-Light Magic summons the sun closer to the planet, scorching everything in sight and turning all the dragons on the planet blind as they burn in the glow at maximum capacity. The SERAPH specifically limits the light magic on his Hive as blindness can still occur on lower power levels. It was an unfortunate experience he had to witness.

-Lightning Magic summons storms so intense that hurricanes and wildfires can't be ruled out, obliterating everything in only a few days of the storm that never ends at maximum capacity. Along with it come deadly floods that even wash out underground lairs.

-Nature Magic summons an almost primordial understanding of life, changing the climate to the very beginning of life and obliterating all the current wildlife. Ancient plants grow at extreme speed and the entire landmass is changed into when dragons didn't yet exist, as if it sends the world back in time. While not deadly for the dragons, at maximum capacity it changes the world into an unknown place.

-Plague Magic infects the entire world with the SERAPHs parasitic crystal and takes unwilling control of every single being on the planet at maximum capacity. The crystal plucks apart the world to turn it into energy for the hive. The SERAPH already knew the outcome of that.

-Shadow Magic just outright deletes the sun at maximum capacity, shrouding everything in completely blinding darkness with not even stars and a moon at the sky. As a result, the warmth also left, turning the world into a dark, freezing planet where life dies.

-Water Magic leads to mass floods from the resulting never-ending rain, killing everything that isn't waterborne when used at maximum capacity, The SERAPH never stopped shakingly clinging to a very large tower as the water rose, screaming at the scientists that he will ban water magic in his Hive. He never did but it is severely limited.

-Wind Magic summons hurricanes so intense that nothing is left standing after they sweeped the area, killing thousands of dragons and animals due to the impact of falling out of the sky at the maximum capacity. When longer time is given, nothing grows on the dusty ground anymore as it rips out all the water and living matter in it's path.

xhTf31A.png Band 6: Locations and Map of the Hive

Located in the Starwood Strands, the SERAPHs lair exists as both an on ground site and underground site. The on ground site is a collection of ruins overgrown by pulsing, warm crystals. No one knows when they surfaced in the Starwood Strands but the Hive suspects that the SERAPH brought those with him when they entered the world.

Within those ruins, there is an entrance to the deeper part of the lair, guarded by ancient dragon warriors. They scan incoming dragons if they belong to the hive and look over permits as well as business inquiries. The first room after they grant entry is a large overgrown library that serves as a hub for the Hive, called the Sublime Study. This is where the Lorekeeper Archivum resides and sometimes even the Divine Pair, if they aren't in the Divine Garden.

However, if you go deeper, you wander through a dimly lit crystal tunnel, air gradually getting warmer as it leads you deeper. That passage is called God's Gates by the Hive inhabitants. Reaching the end of that tunnel leads to a port like structure called Starwood Port with temporary living quarters and dragons working to carry resources from the entrance point into different tunnels. This is where many of the hatchlings and dragons are located that are waiting for the formal permission to leave, with their treasures and personal items packed.

From that area, there are many options to go to.

The first cave crystal like tunnel leads to the Nebula Aqueduct, the official location for the Science Departments, which are separated into different rooms and laboratories for the working dragons. The Nebula Aqueduct also includes spacious living quarters for the various scientists at work. Due to the Hive's sheer size, travelling to the Stellar Eden is a long path.

The second tunnel leads to the Divine Garden, a sparkling, large and crystalline garden with alien plants growing. The Divine Garden survives underground due to the artificial sun installed in the ceiling, making it look like an open sky. Many dragons spend their time here, especially guards off shift, as the plants are great nutrition for all the dragons and grow back extremely fast. In the middle of the Divine Garden is a spacious temple where the SERAPH resides most of the time, keeping watch over his children. However, they is always guarded by various bodyguards.

The third tunnel leads to the Stellar Eden, a very large crystalline settlement carved out of the ground and supported by sturdy crystal structures. Many dragons live here, owning small shops that sell homemade wares, sharing culture from their flights and built quaint houses. Due to the long time the settlement had some to develop, the Stellar Eden is now a built out culture center, with celebrations held regularly.

Many visiting dragons describe the Stellar Eden as an underground paradise, with Victorian Age looking houses, well dressed dragons and a good attitude, often being met with cheery and partying dragons. Electro swing music is widely regarded as popular and many of the dragons have a high appreciation for art. This is mainly due to the SERAPH carrying thousands of memories and many of the dragons have picked up those memories specifically, as they enjoy them the most.

Once a year, there is an open week where nearby clans are invited to party underground with the Hive Dragons. It was always met with positive receptions. Sometimes, dragons feel inclined to stay, as the festivals welcome everyone in warm, open arms.

Located in the Crystalline Ruins and near the many entrances to the Hive, these cosmic dragons keep watch in and outside of the Hive.

They are created by the pure essence of the SERAPH who has planted a part of his spirit into the bodies of other dragons and as such, the Angels act in their will. They can be of any breed and gender, however they tend to be extremely large, with abilities that let them see beyond the fabric of this world and call upon the cosmos.

These dragons, that have turned into cosmic beings trapped in mortal vessels, are not seen away from the Hive and often stand still for hours at a time, like crystalline statues. They usually play different roles and have different principals. They can still communicate with the Hive Dragons, as they are just as hyper-intelligent as every other Hive Dragon. They just tend to be focused on their principals.

These Angels are revered by Hive Dragons, as they represent the pure essence of their deity. However, not all Angels stay permanently, as the SERAPH had to put down a few in the time they created them. Sometimes, the pure essence they put into the Angels gets corrupted and they start attacking the Hive.
As such, they have invested in safer techniques in creating Angels, most of the first ones having been put down already. Only Archangel Seraphiel is still alive from the prototypes that were created.

xhTf31A.png Band 8: Rituals and Festivals

Just as any other clan, the Hive has it's own culture when it comes to rituals and festivals. With the creation and expansion of the Hive, dragons within have begun to create their own culture and celebrations, as it's one of the signs of prosperity in a clan.

Here is a brief overview of the celebrations within the Hive.

tumblr_inline_o0txw9odoe1tqyuge_250.png

Festivals

1. Starfall Celebration;

Just as any Arcane Clan, the Hive celebrates Starfall Celebration at the end of September.
The Hive worships the SERAPH but still lives under the Arcanist and have the same respect for him as they do for their Hive Deity.
The Hive is open to every visitor, by opening up a back entrance to the Stellar Eden. During that time many nearby clans get together to celebrate and dragons within the Hive prepare for the big celebration a week before it begins, as it's a huge opportunity for the local economy and relations to other clans.

Starfall Celebration is a highly anticipated event, once September falls in.

2. Day of Offering

Day of Offering is on the 2nd December and is the SERAPH's date of arrival in Sornieth. The day is treated as the SERAPH's birthday unofficially by the Hive Dragons.
The day before, all the dragons outside the Hive go back inside and all entrances are temporarily sealed for two days. If visitors are present during that time, they cannot leave the Hive either and have to wait for the Day of Offering to end. On that day, dragons are in a frenzy to prepare offerings and gifts.

The next day, all dragons wake up at 8 am and wander to the Glowing Caverns, the only day in the whole year that dragons who are not priests are permitted to enter the divine chamber. They spend their time in there, silently praying and listening to the priests speak words of worship until 1 PM.

Only after 1 PM do they leave the chamber and collect their prepared offerings and gifts. The rest of the day is spent wandering to the Divine Garden and bringing their gifts to the SERAPH's crystalline temple.
That day is the only day in the year that the SERAPH also accepts offerings, as they will reject them the rest of the year and tell dragons to indulge themselves first and foremost.

Nothing else is done on that day, no one working, no one going out to work or gather, even the organisation staff is doing no work at all. The SERAPH set that rule into place so dragons can have a day to relax after the the yearly worship reading is over.

When midnight hits, the day is officially over and the Hive returns back to it's normal activities.

3. Hivemind Celebration

Hivemind Celebration is a festival that occurs from the 20th December until 1st January.

In this festival, the Hive Dragons celebrate the end of the year and welcome the new year. During that time, the Hive is open to a large amount of visitors.

The festival is characterized by a lot of partying, indulging in food and drinks, getting together in groups and even inviting other clans to celebrate the new year. In that time frame, the Stellar Eden has it's stores open and the city is decorated in crystalline decorations. This festival is not directly tied to the SERAPH, as the dragons created this culture themselves.
The SERAPH sometimes visits the Stellar Eden during that time to watch their children bathe in prosperity.

This festival is famous within the circles of the Hive, as many other clans come to celebrate with the Hive Dragons. Food and drinks are very cheap during that time and many souvenirs are sold.

tumblr_inline_o0txw9odoe1tqyuge_250.png

Rituals

The Hive has many rituals, even in daily life. None of them are as resource expensive as the big festivals but they are a staple for Hive Dragons, as they are deeply spiritual and worship their deity.

1. Angel Offerings

The Angels are an instance of the SERAPH and are therefore just as revered and respected. Since the SERAPH themselves denies offerings and tells dragons to take care of themselves first, Hive Dragons resort to praying to the respective Angels and giving them offers.
Grieving Dragons often come to the Principal of Death and ask for the soul of the one they lost to be guided home, while Dragons who are nervous about something, visit the respective Principal related to their issue. Sometimes it's just a mere blessing of luck or creativity.

The Angels accept the offering and reply with a blessing spell to help the dragons that contacted them.

2. Holy House Ornaments

It's no surprise that the pure energy of the Hive attracts dark beings, specifically the Shade. As a way to ward off incoming evil, Hive Dragons often hang crystalline decor over their doorsteps and plant special flowers.
It actually seems to work, as any instance of the Shade seems to dissolve under them. It already attracted the attention of the Arcane Scholar Council who are trying to get behind the secrets of the ornaments the Hive Dragons hang up.
