❏.ORIGINS "Who's that?" "Ultimemer. You know, clan deputy?" "What, the dead one?" "He's dead?" Freddles McGoob flows and flits through dialogue he doesn't care for, eyelids drawn instinctively over ink. He can feel the sun on his scales, the morning dew on his claws - he is terribly out of place. Many dragons here, many dragons there; a great many heartbeats to dodge out here, outside his tiny office, outside his cave. But he must see Ultimemer for himself. His looksake. His original. His... twin, Unphazer told him once. Well, not see him, the ink took his sight a while ago. But he must hold Ultimemer, and breathe him, and stand there a moment, their tails entwined. It has been so, so long since his twin broke in two. McGoob's been trying so hard, too, trying not to break as well. He's been alone for so, so long. He should be angry about that, about Ultimemer abandoning him, but he only wants to be held. Dust kicks up somewhere ahead. Someone, shouting, and the words are lost but the voice is familiar. The den is open, and he is alive, he is alive, he is alive. McGoob shouts too, a sound too beautiful to be writeable, and rushes forwards with open arms.

McGoob is a clone of Ultimemer, designed by the non-alien Unphazer in her not-spaceship to help him out with his million accounting tasks. McGoob is a perfect clone in everyway, identical to Ultimemer, except for his tertiary, and his secondary, and those arms, and those honestly very weird ink-dripping horror eyes, and the whole being blind thing. In other words, he's kind of a failure, but it's probably best not to tell him that. He's doing his best here! Though McGoob is frequently treated like a robot, similar to Ultimeme, he's actually his very own man, and has like, feelings and stuff. His happiest memory is undoubtedly seeing Ultimemer get back to work after his awful accident, though he doesn't talk about it much. He doesn't talk much at all, to be honest, instead employing a complex language of hand-signs and flickers of his magic lanterns. It works in his favour much of the time; it's harder for dragons to lie about how many bears they've borrowed from the clan's vault when also having to think about their signalling language. Since McGoob's secondary happens to be maaaaaangenta, the manly men of the man-cave frequently give Ultimemer a harder time about being an unmanly fake. Several trials have actually been held, featuring Bear Lawyers, to try and figure out which Ultimemer was the Real True Man; all have ended in release of bears and lots of punching, but no clear verdict. He's also the keeper of the Challenge List. |
