 Lore: On clear days, looking up from the ground, these dragons appear to be rays coming from the sun itself. This coloration is caused by long term exposure to the sun's rays at extremely high altitudes. The exposure results in a shift from the dragon's original pattern to this new one.

Personality: Most sunrays value their quiet time. They tend to think best alone in an empty space. But, this does not mean they’re unfriendly. Once they land, they’re often eager to discuss and show off whatever project they were working on.

Origin: The first instance of this happening was in a fire spiral dragon. They found the ash and fumes of the ashfall wastes to be a nuisance. Finding themself unable to concentrate while working on the ground, they decided to pack what they needed in a bag and took off for clear skies. The heat produced by the volcanic wastes provided plenty of hot air to rise with and coast upon. Once above the fumes, the spiral found concentration immensely easier. They ended up doing all their work while flying high above any smoke the wastes produced from then on. This spiral became the first sunray, finding that clear skies, heat, and direct sun lead not only to their increased productivity, but also a new set of bright colors. This in turn has inspired other dragons to fly high above the wastes and become sunrays.
