Heart of Gold
The Lucky
"Hmmm. Must be Thursday. I never could get the hang of Thursday." Heart-of-Gold was born to a young clan that didn't know how to handle the number of children they had, and so the little sky dancer ended up with Euryale. Things tend to go oddly well around Heart-of-Gold. Or they go spectacularly badly but end up fine. Like the debacle with the Hardshell bugs. Moros says it's because she's Infinite, but they always pronounce it strangely. The clan keeps trying to find a suitable job for her, but it just doesn't work. It doesn't help that half of her attention is constantly 'away'; she is an incredibly powerful energy sensor with a wide range that requires a lot of attention just to keep sorted. This 'half in space' attitude gets in the way of any job the clan tries to give her. They tried to make her clan cook and it tasted good, but it was almost entirely unlike whatever she had been given. Thankfully her mate Bistromathic has taken over that position. For now, she's just allowed to wander around and do whatever she pleases. As long as she personally isn't touching it, any activity goes uncannily well around her. Orpheus watches her apply the blue-green paint in a half-trance to his body. She's not even a painter, Neha is the one who originally applied his paints, but she's matching all the colors just right. "How do you do it?" He asks and she tilts her head. "Make it so perfect every time?" She grins widely and continues shading his wing. "That's easy! You just paint it how it's supposed to be." "But that's not how it works. You can't just make it perfect, that's impossible." "Not Impossible," She admonishes, trying not to smile. "Just highly improbable." Belael put up with her for the duration of building the new lair for the luck she brought and sometimes he wished he hadn't; a complaint he shared with anyone who showed even the slightest interest. Any beverage left unwatched for more than a minute turned into another drink entirely. Sometimes when he went down any set of stairs, the lights would all go out; because some of these stairwells didn't have windows, there were a fair share of stubbed toes and broken claws to show for it. He swore that whenever he closed the door to a sleeping quarter, all the bedding would move on its own and once (in a story he told only to his mate Abbadon, who then promptly shared it with the Demon Sisters) he found a door he didn't put in the plans, that opened to a room he'd never seen and that he never found again. Quietly, she's quite pleased with how it all went. He doesn't even know what he didn't have to deal with! |
