Subspecies lore Dragons who ate too many mushrooms and are now a host for said mushrooms (like the zombie fungus). Their skin has blotches of the color that are characteristic to the infection and are spore spots. The spore spots is how the fungus reproduces, as with the slightest movement a cloud of glowing dust lifts off the host's body. The host has about a decade before they're entirely taken over by the fungus and they offer their body to the decomposers. After the host's death, a glowing forest spouts in their last resting place and sometimes fairy rings sprout around the body. The mushrooms are valuable ingredients for alchemists and even some plague recipies, although they need to be handled with care. |
