The Beta Experiment
The storm winds bring the scent of rain far away. Brightshine Jubilee seems to drag on and on. Ithiliisahn waits irritably. * Finally, Ithiliisahn sees his infiltrator-essence in its distilled and pure form: the genetic Augmentation of the sandsurge! While he backs Elkrekeodh, Hiirkaen, and Liglanaerr's push to recruit one, it is with a certain wistfulness, verging on bitterness. |

Ithiliisahn is the most recent and least-trusted member of the clan-leaders, though he was a figurehead during their days in Lightning. He serves mainly at Hiirkaen's behest, who acknowledges that if the clan is ever drawn back to Derecho Canyon, having their likely figurehead already on the clan's council will provide continuity of information and leadership. Despite his species, he is a formidable raider and sneak-thief, and currently an important part of the border patrol. The rules of the clan aren't something Ithiliisahn feels he can weigh in on independently, and he mostly sides with Hiirkaen during debates. Deep within, he wishes the clan would pull together on a single project as they did at Derecho Canyon, but he doubts the suggestion will be taken well. Jumpy, withdrawn, and the lightning rod for much earlier trouble, Ithiliisahn is not well-liked by most of the clan. Hiirkaen's maternal attitude toward him and Sprucetip's careful study are rare breaks in what generally ranges from indifference to hostility. Golemwork Subject to an official experiment of the Stormcatcher's, Ithiliisahn has much of his frame, including both hindlegs, replaced with self-replicating and thus self-repairing golemwork. His own report indicates that his project involved the infiltration of other Flights, that he is himself only a prototype, and that the project is likely on hold indefinitely while Lightning focuses on more successful experiments. Nevertheless, his affliction has spread to other members of the clan, notably Laenalaerr, Moonfire, the now-dead Snowfall, and possibly Striker. Chysiraal seems to be the recipient of some pirated version of the experiment, raising the question on whether it is as concluded as reports tell. Craft Ithiliisahn makes small sculptures out of scavenged objects, favoring copper wiring and other scraps from the Shifting Expanse. He has also developed the unpleasant habit of catching small creatures and infecting them with his golemwork contagion, though whether this is properly an art or more of an unkind experiment is debatable. Physical description Ithiliisahn is a gaunt, rangy pearlcatcher with large, broad wings. He lacks the entrancing grace of most of his kind, and his extra shaggy mane and tail-plume are often dingy and matted. Here and there exposed wires are visible at his joints, and his larger horn, cracked during a hatchlinghood misadventure, trails a fiber-optic cable. His flight-style is passive and kiting, and his scent is unremarkable for a pearlcatcher of his element, though tinged with dried blood and ozone. Ithiliisahn can move very quietly, despite the exposed metal hindlegs, as his joints and footpads are thoroughly sheathed in rubber. Combat In combat, Ithiliisahn is a quick, skittish figure, moving in rapid jags. His blows are often tentative and glancing, but his finishing-strikes are quite effective, utilizing the spark of Stormcatcher's might that was placed in him to power his blows. |

Origin Ithiliisahn was found curled up in Hiirkaen's resting-spot back in the clan's first days, seeking some comfort there. Despite her mirror-typical lack of sentimentality, Hiirkaen took him under her wing, and he remained with the clan, albeit as a silent, rarely seen ghost. That something was wrong with him was always clear, since he was nervous, withdrawn, and almost always seemed to have been chewing at his pearl as if trying to forget something. Theories abounded, the most popular one to the effect that he had been chased by a pack of steelhounds. According to his own story, he hatched a normal pearlcatcher to normal parents, and was shortly thereafter Exalted. There, in Stormcatcher's offices, he was transformed into his present state, and set loose for further testing, which he escaped. Whether the hatchling-memories of someone who tried so long to forget his essence and purpose can be trusted is not so clear. Ithiliisahn finally shared his story shortly before the clan's first Thundercrack Carnevale. His announcement was overshadowed and interrupted by the arrival of Cataclysm, and the subsequent trials that sent the clan across the Shifting Expanse. One of the least affected by the trials proper, Ithiliisahn was officially designated leader after the clan's move. While largely regarded as a figurehead, he did valuable service in retrieving Imminnyll. |

Kin Ithiliisahn claims to be a returned Exalt, his identity borrowed from another hatchling when he was sent back. Rumors of the return of improperly-Exalted ghosts have bolstered this claim. According to his official heritage, he is an unremarkable blend of pearlcatcher, spiral, mirror, and guardian. |

Familiar
The sparrowmouse is not a genuine beast at all, but rather a tiny golem, an early model for the Infiltrator essence. It has been with him for a long time, having attached itself to him shortly after the clan's first Riot of Rot, and seems to have a better idea of its mission than Ithiliisahn himself. Ithiliisahn has a strong dislike of the creature, and refers to it as a "horrid beast".Click or tap a food type to individually feed this dragon only.
