Sandbar is a gorgeous fashionista with many admirers. Growing up she was accustomed to the nomadic Wind lifestyle, and she's used her knowledge of foreign places to establish a trade empire - partially inherited from her parents, and partially out of what began as a hobby making handmade silks. Her shrewd business sense and pickiness when it comes to quality has helped her business flourish. Her current base of operations is in the Virdian Labyrinth, where she's surrounded by flowers she considers beautiful enough to be worthy of her.

As the head of a business operation, Sandbar knows how to appeal to people, and she'll act perfectly pleasant... to your face. If you hear a nasty rumor spread about you, it was probably started by a slighted Sandbar. (It's almost impossible to trace these rumors back to her, although Calavera isn't fooled.) Although she generally acts pleasant and mature, Sandbar has a relatively low patience threshhold. She openly laughs at people like Leilani who feel the need to prop themselves up by pretending to be fabulous: she knows she is.

Despite sometimes stooping to that level herself (even though she mocks it), Sandbar has never revealed Cacao's true identity as royalty, knowing how much he doesn't want attention drawn to him, something for which Cacao remains grateful.

At first glance, Cacao and Sandbar seem nothing alike.

The same is true at second, and even third glance. They are nothing alike.

However, they enjoy each other's company fiercely, and despite being married with grown children still occasionally act as passionate as if they are newlyweds. They'll often steal away to travel to some hidden corner of Sornieth where no one can find them, leaving their professional matters to Sandbar's assistant so they can enjoy each other's company in private.

Sandbar and Leilani could best be described as frenemies.

Most dragons think they're completely antagonistic to each other, but that isn't always the case. As Leilani has grown into her own skin and begun to treat her apiary with more and more seriousness, Sandbar can't help but approve. The nocturne still comes off like she's trying too hard, of course, but at least she's applying herself instead of wasting away waiting for someone to come sweep her off her feet. (Sandbar, far more practical than her flashy outward appearance suggests, can't stand that sort of cloyingly naïve sentiment.)

But now, Leilani is truly making something of herself. That can only be a good thing. Even if she is still the most obnoxious dragon Sandbar has ever had the (dis)pleasure of knowing.
