Biography
Haldorðin the True of Word
Warden Enfield of Lonewood
|
A lifetime longer than several normal lifetimes in nearly absolute solitude will completely change a being. Often it is for the worst. Haldorðin is a malicious and short tempered being because of this. Their patience is thin and doesn’t allow much social interaction. Haldorðin prefers to watch from the shadows until found and is rude to all but a few. One of the only positive traits they have is his dedication to his word. If Haldorðin makes a promise they will do whatever it takes to keep that promise. One of Haldorðin’s hobbies during their years of solitude was the game of chess. They enjoyed trying to outsmart their opponent whoever or whatever that may be. Usually playing against themself, Haldorðin did occasionally find a way to play with the prisoners locked behind the iron doors.

History Over time Haldorðin has forgotten anything outside Lonewood. They don’t remember the burning sun or the blue sky, only the dark halls of the prison. Haldorðin doesn’t even remember the exact enchantments and spells binding them to Lonewood. Haldorðin barely remembers a time when there were wardens other than enfields. Their memories are a faint impression of busy halls full of other wardens and guards. Once the other guards died off or left Haldorðin was left with only the company of the prisoners. If the entrance of Lonewood hadn’t opened to admit one last set of prisoners, Haldorðin would have descended into true madness. The dragons that brought the newest set of prisoners brought the lost knowledge of summoning an enfield. They were unwilling to sacrifice some of their own to a life bound to Lonewood but were happy enough to curse another enfield to it. Ásjá was summoned and bound in an almost identical manner as Haldorðin. Ásjá would become the only bright light in Haldorðin’s otherwise bleak life. The pair spent lifetimes guarding Lonewood together. Haldorðin at first avoided the other enfield, even going as far to injure her when she persisted. Despite Haldorðin’s resentful attitude to her Ásjá never gave up. Haldorðin eventually gave in due to sheer frustration and realized they found Ásjá’s company somewhat enjoyable. Soon after realizing this Haldorðin would suspiciously show up in the same areas as Ásjá or join her on a patrol with an excuse. Haldorðin’s tendency to spend time with prisoners became almost nonexistent as they spent more time with the other enfield. The somewhat courtship between the enfields persisted for a millennia before Haldorðin finally admitted their feelings. Currently Haldorðin is constantly patrolling the halls of Lonewood or standing guard at the entrance. When the enchant binding them lessens enough to allow freetime Haldorðin finds Ásjá or Zuras to spend time with. Despite Haldorðin’s usually unfriendliness to others they find Zuras a slightly relatable dragon. Zuras’s icy demeanor is a match for Haldorðin’s malicious nature. The two enjoy playing chess together as a way to entertain each other and challenge each other. Haldorðin’s offspring are raised by their mother and Haldorðin rarely interact with them. The rare interaction is a scathing criticism or something that sounds similar to a backhanded compliment. If forced by Ásjá, Haldorðin will give pointers or help the hatchlings train in fighting. Familiar During Haldorðin's period of almost absolute solitude they grew attached to a fungi with a type of sentience. They aren't sure if the Ancient Fungus is actually a sentient being or not but refuses to allow any harm to come to it. Haldorðin even named it Pestilence so they would have something to call it. |
