HISTORY
It was a day like any other in the Snowsquall Tundra, at least apparently. For days some older dragons of their Clan were flying back and fort to carry supplies north, helping some other dragons in Dragonhome dig some tunnel for some reasons. It wasn't Tar's problem though. The hatchling was the son of two proud Ridgeback warriors and since he was still very young he was only interested in playing with his siblings. That day was no different. While Tar was wrestling with his brothers in a clearing in the woods near their den, a noise came from somewhere behind the trees. They immediately stopped, listening closely, trying to figure out what could it be. 'Is it one of our parents? Another dragon from our Clan? Some Beastclan creature?' Tar thought, starting to get a bit curious. As a strange dragon came into view, they quickly realized it was neither of those. The stranger was something the three hatchlings never saw before: it looked a little like a Tundra, with a thick fluffy neck and tufts of fur on its tail and limbs, but the head and chest were different from a Tundra's. But what made them speechless was that the new dragons was...dripping. Its body was made from some sort of dark, dense liquid, kept together and alive in form of a dragon by an unknown magic. '..What is that thing. What is that thing? WHAT IS THAT THING?' Tar thought, beginning to panic in his mind. But, even though he and his brothers where scared, they did not flee: it would be such a shame for their proud parents to have raised such cowards. So they stood their ground in the clearing, with the pale sun of the Southern Icefield barely warming their backs, as the stranger was closing the distance between them. "Do not fear, little ones..." said the dragon, "I will not hurt you." "STAY AWAY!" yelled Diesel, one of his brothers. The other dragon, surprisingly, stopped. It just looked at them and repeated, calmly, "I will not hurt you, but you should leave. It is dangerous here." "Why? This is our home!" replied Tar. "Yeah! This is our Clan's territory!" growled Petroleum, the other brother. Before the stranger could answer, noises erupted everywhere in the woods and other dark liquid dragons like the one in front of the three brothers stepped in the clearing from the woods all around them. Some of them were even glowing, like parts of their bodies was on fire, while others had muddy water rippling through them, not really mixing with the rest of their liquid bodies. That was when their courage faded away. Outnumbered by enemies never seen before and still incapable of flight, they turned and run away. "WAIT! NOT THAT WAY!" yelled one of those creatures. Petroleum picked a random direction and ran as fast as he could, with Diesel right beside him and Tar quickly following them and trying to keep up. Way behind them he could hear the pawsteps of the other dragons chasing them. The air smelled strange in that part of the forest, like something was burning somewhere ahead, but Tar couldn't stop and investigate. He just kept running behind his brothers, trying to put more distance between them and their chasers. But something was definitely wrong now. The ground felt stickier for a while, compared to the nice and compacted dirt in the clearing and the piled snow near its border, and now the three hatchlings couldn't even rise their paws anymore. It was only then that Tar realized that what seemed like normal mud in the shadows of the trees was actually some kind of really dense and dark liquid, similar to the one of the strange dragons' bodies. Panicking, the three brothers thrashed around and fought against the black mass, just to sink deeper and deeper in it. When their chasers finally caught up to them, they were already so deep in that stuff that only their necks were still free to move. "Oh no, they have already fallen in the tar pit!" cried one of them in distress. 'Tar pit. Well.. That's ironic' Tar thought, trying to get out of his own namesake. "How do we get them out of there?!" asked another. A third one, the one that first appeared back in the clearing, stepped forward and slowly walked to them. It gingerly walked in the tar pit, but it didn't seem to really have trouble walking in that. No more than the hatchlings had trouble walking in fresh snow, at least. It tried to free him with its teeth and claws, but it was useless and Tar remained firmly stuck in the tar pit. "They are far too deep in the tar, we cannot just pull them out," it said. "Then we will have to turn them," said another dragon on the shore, incredibly calm in that situation. "What?!" the other dragon seemed kind of shocked. "Think about it!" it replied, raising its voice a little, "You said it yourself, they are far too deep and we cannot pull them out. We need to make them able to help with their rescue." "But they are just hatchlings! And they are scared of us...we cannot-" "It is that or death." Silence fell on them and only the noises of three hatchlings fighting for the lives, and losing, could be heard. "We have a Primal with us, we can do it," said the one on the shore, gesturing with its head to another dragon with melting eyes. "We can save them. We must." The last thig Tar could remember was the "Primal" thing walking over to each of his siblings and coating them in something that resembled oil, or maybe tar? He wasn't sure. When it started to walk over to him, he started to eternally panic, but eventually calmed down. The stuff that the thing was using was quite calming, actually. He began to get tired, then everything turning to black. A while later.. Crystalline was flying as fast as she could to the clan den, clutching something black in her talons. Algae was on the beach near the clan den, gazing into the ocean. When she landed, he turned around and noticed her. "What's that??" Algae growled, staring at the thing she was carrying. "Its.. an egg of some sort. When I was scouting the southern icefields, it was just laying there. There were two others, but the hatchlings were nowhere to be found. And don't tell me I should have left it there, would beastclans getting a hold of it be a better idea?" Crystalline looked down at the object, then looked back at Algae. "And I know what your thinking. But Tau should NOT study this thing! It could break or something bad could happen-" "Calm down, I already know that's a rather bad idea" Algae sighed, his tail swishing around on the sand. "But we should bring it in the lair anyways. Who knows, maybe Constellation has an idea what species that 'egg' belongs to." She sighed as Algae dived into the water, and she followed. Tar woke up, not knowing were he was. He was stuck in a sort of egg or something else. He began to panic but was able to easily free himself, leaving him on either some very hard packed dirt or stone. He looked around. It was dark, but not impossible to see. He appeared to be in a vault, which honestly makes sense. He was just in some sort of dried oil egg a few seconds ago. He then paused and looked down at himself. 'I.. don't look like myself?' He thought, staring down at his new strange paws which seemed to be dripping.. Like those other dragons. He felt different too, feeling like he was kept together by giant globs of whatever he was oozing. He began to eternally panic again. 'Where am I? What am I? Where's my brothers? Are they okay? Am I okay? What happened? How long has it been?' 'Did they leave me?' He was trying to get used to this new strange body when he tripped over a Jar of Vapors. He took a look at it for a moment but then got distracted. Someone was coming. Or, a few someone's. "Are you sure its a egg?" A voice said "Positive! But you said it was black and oily.. No egg element looks like that.. Could be a new element for all we know," A second voice responded. The dragons came from across the corner. One was a light blue Wildclaw, and the other was a Dark blue Skydancer. "Well.. Its not a egg anymore." The Skydancer said. He yelped and tried to hide, but there was literally nothing to hide behind other than a few festival items, the opened egg that he just came from, and the jar. The Skydancer was coming closer, but the Wildclaw gestured at them to back off. The Wildclaw slowly came closer, and Tar backed up. "Hey.. Its okay. No ones here to hurt you-" The Wildclaw said. "Well TECHNICALLY we could all could all be in danger right this instant and we could not know-" The Skydancer replied. "Shush! I'm trying to make them less scared and your not helping!" The Wildclaw growled at them. "Where am I?" Tar asked, beginning to get his confidence back. The wildclaw sighed and turned around. "Sorry about that.. Your in the vault of our clan den." The Wildclaw replied. After pausing for a moment they responded again "I'm Crystalline, and that over there is Constellation. What about you?" "Uh.. Tar." He answered, "Wait.. Where are my brothers!? Do you know?" "Brothers? I don't believe I saw any other dragons that looked similar to you. Yes, there were two other of those egg things, but no dragons were there." Crystalline said "Oh.." Tar looked down. His brothers were surely alive. But why did they not stay? Crystalline crouched down, getting on his level of size. "I know losing your siblings- Even if we are unsure if they are dead or alive- is difficult. But I've also learned staying in the past isn't the best thing to do." "Its going to be okay"
