Mazu is a prophet with an agenda, which is pretty taboo in the industry. After all, if you know what's going to happen - no matter to what degree, no matter what kind of prophet you are - and you want a specific outcome, how likely are you to interfere? And no one is perfect, so how likely is that interference (that playing at godhood) going to result in tragedy? Mazu doesn't think pure unhindered fate is perfect either. And her vision for the world is simple - everyone has space to be content, if they want. Everyone who wants to be left alone is, and everyone who could use a friend is never lonely again. It's simple and impossible, but what use is Sight like this if she isn't going to use it to try? It's this philosophy that leads her to agree when Vim, happier as a nervous young father than he ever would've been as a dead young martyr, asks her to check their hatchlings' fortunes. He's worried his grand and glorious destiny will be passed down like an illness, shunted onward to his descendants like a debt. Mazu's own private guilty indulgence is that, on days she knows a little too well how little difference her actions make in the grand scope of the world, she looks to the one dragon she can always make smile with only a couple words.
