Biography

Stuff about Gruffen:
  • He is known as the Shrinekeeper. As his title would imply, he is responsible for maintaining Ocerus' sacred shrine located just outside Lockethon.
    • The shrine seems to be enchanted with a spell that allows for mortal dragons (more specifically Gruffen) to open rifts to the domain of the gods.
    • It also seems like a decent enough place for traveling dragons to rest in although this is ill advised lest you wish to take on a rather long and arduous quest...
  • Gruffen is one of few dragonkin who choses to remain in his draconic form. Most chalk this up to him being a much older dragon and prefering to be a bit more traditional about things.
    • "I'm not that old! And besides it's not like I'm choosing to walk around entirely like most of our ancestors on all fours. I still walk on two legs like those who have chosen to take on their altered forms..."
    • Dusty: "Sure whatever you say gramps :]"
    • [insert bonk sound effect here as a result of Gruffen hitting Dusty on the head with his staff]
  • Speaking of his staff, Gruffen claims it was a gift from the fallen god of Order, Desta.
    • Normally, it would be Dusty's job to confirm whether this statement is true or not by communicating with the god. But seeing as Desta was killed centuries ago this would be impossible... Unless he was reincarnated and somehow also retained all his memories?
  • When Dusty arrived at the shrine one day with Sukuna at his side Gruffen nearly had a heart attack. He knew that the Elder God's seal was broken, but still he never would've expected him to show up at the shrine one day with the idea of him returning to Ellerune.

Common magic, abilities, and practices seen throughout Ocerus

Visages - There are three known common visages that many dragonkin in Ocerus have adopted
  • Primal Visage
    • This visage is seen less often in recent years. Larger breeds will usually take on their true forms when traveling to far, unfamiliar locations. Smaller breeds such as Fae or Veilspun seem to be much more hesitant with appearing in their true form in fear of accidentally being squashed like a bug by other dragonkin or beasts.
  • Ceronian Visage
    • One of the most common visages seen throughout Ocerus. You'll find that many dragonkin have a striking resemblance to their true forms with some exceptions. The biggest being many of them now are bipedal. There's is also the addition of opposable digits which has proven to greatly improve the quality of life for some dragonkin, specifically those of Snapper decent. These newfound traits require some getting used to for those experimenting with their visages.
  • Bestial Visage
    • The second most common visage seen throughout Ocerus. Dragonkin who choose take on this appearance find that they no longer resemble a dragon at all. In fact they would appear to be closer in appearance to Dryads, Maren, Centaur, and Faun beastfolk, hence the naming of this visage. There are still some physical traits that remain that indicate their draconic background though. Usually the traits that remain range from horns/antlers, scales/feathers, and on occasion wings/tails.

Elemental Magic - Elemental magic has an interesting way in manifesting in dragons and beastfolk alike...
  • Nobody is confined to learning just one form of elemental magic. In fact it's fairly common for parents to teach their children their respective forms of magic meaning that at any time one could know anywhere between two to three kinds of magic.
  • A third kind of magic can be learned by those who are rumored to be favored by the gods. Apparently, this favor is primarily detected via ones eye color. Supposedly when the god casts their favor, the eye color of the inheritor changes to match the element the god controls.
  • When it comes to learning multiple forms of elemental magic a challenge can be met if the elements are of opposing forces. It is usually much easier to learn forms of magic that complement one another. For example, ice and water magics would be fairly easy for one to pick (provided the teacher is competent enough to teach it) while something like fire and water may be rather difficult.

Blind Rage - Despite anger being a normal emotion to experience, when it comes to the rare ability "Blind Rage" it can be much more horrifying to witness
