A perceptive, passionate, ambitious dragon, Perseverance was one of the very first Obelisks ever created. A member of the first group to emerge on the day Obelisks were exposed to the wider world, Persy was directly created by the Earthshaker. Taking the Earthshaker's vision for their breed very seriously, Persy is devoted to his calling to change the world. He takes this in a very literal sense, and considers it his duty to learn how to battle and successfully defeat the greatest threats facing Sornieth. Right now, that's probably Shade creatures and other horrorbeasts, but he's willing to be flexible as long as he gets to fight things.
- Biography
As a member of the very first group of Obelisks ever created, Persy was carved out of stone and brought to life by the Earthshaker deep under Dragonhome. All he truly remembers about his confusing first few days of life were deciding firmly that he was going to stick together with his brother Thomas and his sister Vision. Though it can often seem that Persy prioritizes his own ambitions over everything else, he cares deeply for his family and would do anything for his siblings. Believing that it is his job to shoulder the responsibility to protect Home and the dragons he cares about from danger, Persy is firm in his belief that he must become an amazing fighter, and will accept no excuses or compromises from himself.
- Life at Home
Passionate, ambitious, and with a definite sense of purpose, Persy can often be found practicing and training. Most skilled at archery but also adept at swordplay and magical combat, Persy is a dragon who accepts nothing but the best. He can typically be found at Múspellheimr Hall's training grounds working a practice session in, and he'll often take the time to help younger students figure things out. He has a fast mind and is awful at sitting still, meaning he often just scrapes by in his classes and has difficulty in more organized settings. Persy tends to have a bit of an overblown sense of self importance, and he has an immense level of respect for rules and authority, so he often appoints himself as an enforcer of rules and regulations...much to the frequent annoyance of his Hallmates.
- Relationships
Persy is likeable and endearing in his own way, but he can certainly often come across as pompous and self-important. He fits in well in Múspellheimr Hall, especially with other weaponry experts, like his best friend La'anah. Like his sister Vision, he often seeks out companionship from Home's other Obelisks, believing they will also be able to understand his ambition and drive. He remains very close with his siblings. His grandiose sense of self-importance and his insistence that he always be the best at everything he tries can be annoying to both Thomas and Vision, but they know his drive comes from a desire to protect his family and his home. Persy is loyal to a fault, and even though he can be a bit of a lot, the other dragons around Home know he would do anything for them, and he's always a friend they can count on.
- Personality
Loyal and ambitious in the extreme, Persy is a natural leader, and his sense of charisma and his energetic personality make him a likable dragon despite his self-important personality. He is a colorful and entertaining dragon, taking great pride in his skill and constantly pushing himself to improve and surpass his own limits. Persy has great respect for rules and authority, and encourages his friends to do things the right way rather than try to get around the rules - an influence that the notoriously difficult students in Múspellheimr Hall actually rather needed. Despite this trait, combined with his slightly arrogant nature, which can make Persy seem much more restrained than he actually is, Persy can be impulsive and almost reckless. He prefers to look before he leaps, and hates sitting around talking about something when he could actually go and do it.
