Biography
"Really, thisss is the one you want me to protect?" Ixoria hissed turning to look at Rivermist, the dragon matriarch.
"Yes Ixoria. He may not look like much but I believe he will do amazing when he is grown" Rivermist said with a serene smile.
Rivermist was quite right about the hatchling not looking like much. He was incredibly small, freshly hatched apparently. According to Septhis, who had been with the clan matriarch at the time, he was found as an egg in one of the strange chests that the clan had brought back from the Dustcarve Digsite.
Why there would be an egg in the middle of some old archaeology site Ixoria didn't know, or for that matter care. The digsite was some strange dragon fascination that she couldn't care less about. The dragons were such strange creatures sometimes. Like right now Rivermist wanted her to protect some dusty little baby from some dusty chest. Ixoria had better things to do, and to be frank she was much too important to care for some foundling. She had things to do for shade's sake! She had been with Rivermist's clan since the very beginning, when Rivermist was a young bright-eyed dragon on her first adventure, she was not the kind of familiar you put in charge of just any hatchling.
"This is a waste of my time Rivermissst." She said frankly.
"I know you have other things to do Ixoria but he could use your protection. He's very special." Rivermist replied with that annoyingly calm demeanour of hers.
"He doesn't look particularly special to me" Ixoria muttered turning to look at the hatchling again.
The little dusty bug was actually pretty cute when she thought about it.
He was awake now and squirming against the blankets he was swaddled in. He opened his eyes (a bright pink that Ixoria recognized as a Mage's Land colouration) and blinked up at her in confusion.
"mmeh!" The hatchling babbled.
Oh Shade.
He was cute.
She realised as the hatchling waved his wing around and stretched out towards her, she was going to protect this one.
Because Rivermist asked her.
Because her ice-cold facade was melting as the hatchling continued to babble nonsense.
Because he was special.
