Kalkydra

Any information about Kalkydra's past is purely rumor and conjecture, as nothing about her seems to be clearly confirmed. Currently the most likely (or at least most discussed) theory among the clan dragons that are inquisitive enough to puzzle over this mysterious dragon is that she is a former Emperor Dragon rescued and blessed by the authority of the Lightweaver. Why the Lightweaver would undo her attempt at rectifying the mistake she considers Imperials to be is unknown, but peculiarities about Kalkydra begin to add up when considered in that light. She often behaves erratically and is prone to violent outbursts, though they are thankfully rare and easily contained. She is cryptic in speech and does not linger in conversation long. Her many multigaze eyes, unlike the clan's other multigaze dragons, move independently of one another. Most interestingly, she can often be heard speaking at different pitches, though the baseline of her voice is often recognizable, and she frequently behaves contrarily to her own decisions and voiced desires, often acting like completely a completely different dragon or occasionally more than one dragon at once. Galeno is the leading expert on this "theory" about Kalkydra and claims this behavior is the result of her having a fused consciousness with an unknown number of other dragons who once formed an Emperor. The largest hole in the theory is, of course, how and why the Lightweaver would ever choose to "rescue" an Emperor and attempt to restore them to their former shape, but there is some speculation the Lightweaver had little to do with Kalkydra's resurrections. Though Kalkydra herself has never confirmed or denied this, she has been observed going through periods of paralysis or visible agony, tormented by some unseen force. Perhaps one day, her soul and mind can be calmed, and her turmoil can be stopped.

She is frighteningly erratic, but there is nothing to deny Kalkydra's apparent intelligence and knowledge of Light customs. Her knowledge is a valuable addition to the clan and she does, for the most part, understand what her fellow Light dragons and Imperials desire. Certain acts committed by her would have had her exiled or even killed, but even the strongest dragons of the clan fear her power and what she could be capable of if angered, so her past deeds are kept rather quiet as she is left undisturbed in her position for the sake of the rest of the clan's safety. Because of Kalkydra, there can not be a single Pearlcatcher of the Light element living in the lair. There used to be a Light Pearlcatcher who acted as the species representative... used to be...
